    his arms look like onions or spinning tops, the upper arm is wayyy too bulky compared to the forearm. He's ridiculously square jawed too.

    yeah the boobs to me look like someone sucked on the finger of a rubber glove, injected resin into the fingertip of the glove and let it set

    Working on a low-mid poly cowboy, (red dead on the brain) got the head looking near how I want it too, hopeful better presented than my last attempts, and Included a wire :)

    the geo is just weird, dont tesselate triangles like that.
    People always link to the same old pics and diagrams of edgeloop flow for a reason, it actually will make your life a lot easier and your mesh a lot cleaner and easier to optimise if you model with established techniques

    Kite, that model is pretty damn sick. I will say I used to know guy who was a welder and even with wearing heavy-ass shirts, his arms were fucking beet red and jacked-up from the intense heat of the torch. She would be burnt as hell.

    larolaro - awesome work as usual rob, still haven't put a site together, i did snag andynisbet.com with the idea of just doing a blog or something, haven't figured out how to set it up yet.

    conte, cheers conte no just a base mesh, not really liking the sphere> remesh for people, they're too subtle. It's better for more exploratory designs i reckon

    fearian - there's a stab at a paintover, http://www.adventuresincommuting.com/doodle.jpg not that great. I think the best idea if its your first character is to grab lots of photo reference and just flat out trace them in the viewport until the shapes and volumes start sticking in your head, i found it helpful to model out every main element, ribcage, pectorals, etc then combine them

    arrangemonk., looks real nice, is that sascha heinrichs procedural rock tutorial? been trying it too, it's really good.

    felipefrango, cheers for the crit, i'll probably not do too much to them now, maybe tweak later but they're supposed to be fakey cakey + gravity

    This pretty much exactly describes what i was going for hahaha

    Vitor - thanks i'll do some later, need to polish the sculpt, very rough and her eyes are set a bit weirdly in the head.

    8ftspider- hmm, ok the welding mask is now a fashion accoutrement. or futuristic cold heat torch?

    arrangemonk, the stone texture is quite nice, but I'd suggest gathering dirt and small plant live in concave areas of the geo, and probably try to do some thermal shedding erosion/cracking stuff

    Done the majority of the base for the body, I have no idea where to start on the hat and boot's, I also need to start adding some detail, wrinkles, holsters etc

    some progress on my current udk project :) the entire mesh is 1 piece except for his beard, and you can ignore the belt blockout i have in xray mode, its gonna be replaced soon

    slowly but surely coming along, and obviously there are probably some problems. any tips would be greatly appreciated, but keep in mind i plan on finishing topology errors after i get him to a more complete state.

    It doesn't look better, are you really modelling those heads? it feels that you are using a base mesh head and you are simply deforming it.

    You must know how to detris a model, just delete the Lines between the quads.

    Rob, have you thought of doing some merch with your own illustrations? Not that it'll get you a living, or give you money RIGHT NOW, but if you've got nothing better to do, some shirts or stuff?

    Heck if you were to just illustrate a (known, public domain, like Alice in wonderland or something) story I'd gladly buy a book.

    It's a pity I'm flat broke too, or I would've commisioned a self-portrait.

If you just look thru about the last 5 pages like I did, you will see examples of excellent faces, wireframes,etc you can LEARN a LOT from this stuff, its just a case of you actually doing it, instead of just dismissing help off hand.

    You need REFERENCE! and use it, I do it all the time, just forget about using it, like I know how things look, yea right, sure, thats why I struggle to get things right. So, use REFERENCE, and LISTEN to people who are TRYING TO HELP.

    Kite: this immediately reminded me of a friend with the posture and personality and bunny ears...wait what? anyways its awesome love how comfortable she looks, great work on the folds in the pants and the silhouette is killer as usual.


    build: love the gear as its developing the pants are super interesting and fresh looking, gotta say before the hair i would work on getting the face right your cheekbones are way too high and the brow is a bit shallow, could use some more angles to see whats up exactly but something is defiantly off on the face. good luck with the updates!

    Rawtalent: I think you should start a WIP thread in pimping and previews, that way more people will be able to give you advice in an organized way. also as BigErn said, you need to slow down, speed comes with experience and practice, but if you are not doing things properly from the start you will just develop bad habits that will take even longer to sort out.
