Monster head at Eriks Rodriguez workshop. Eventually there will be a few thin spikes sticking out everywhere, its just not ready yet Scale is a bit under 1:1.
Pior - Thats so cool, traditional media always impresses me:) Is this your first clay sculpt? It's really nice
ScoobyDoofus - Nice, reminds me of Christian Bale in the Machinist
Face opens up to interface with a weapon Im currently designing. The gun will plug into a port in the left eye, transmitting data from it's own set of sensors. Stuff. Still have tons to do, like giving the poor thing some hair:)
Crazy Matt, I'm amazed NMRIH is still going as it is, I suppose Maxx refuses to let it fade, haha.
I'm glad there is other sculpture in this thread, so this doesn't seem so out of place.
I spent the last month or so working on and off on this bust for the Sculptor Carole Feuerman, whom I'm looking to get a full time job as a fabrication assistant with. The sculpt is one of Carole's life casts from her studio that I chased and then molded it so I could cast it in silicone. I also punched the hair, including the rough shave.
I need to make a hologram effect for a client at work, over the weekend i did some tests with after effects and a test footage, as i am pretty new to t he program.
Anyone got some advice?
I dont feel like its sufficient for an own thread, so i hope to get some strong crits here...
The effect i tried to achieve was the fading in, the end result needs the footage to be more or less opaque at some time, so its kinda boring from sec 3 on, but thats on purpose.
Ruz & Dkk: Thanks guys!
Endomi: I wasn't thinking of Bale when I did this, but I can see what you mean. Bale was much more gaunt and pale I think. I really like your gun-faced-girl. Great style and execution. Lets see the hair!
Pior: Looks fun! Cant wait to see him all spiney.
I've got a big box of super sculpy just sitting here...
Ralusek: Sorry but he looks like a lumpy pink turd monster, and not in a good way. Maybe step back a few subdivisions and get your forms and design reading better at a lower rez before progressing to the higher freq details.
Work big to small.
Neo_God: Neato! Looks pretty realistic, although those lips look too dark/pink and are reading as lipstick/effeminate.
Highelf: Nice likeness! Instantly recognizable, tho I think you could present it better. Just a front ortho view doesnt do your sculpt justice. Please, give us some more angles.
I put in a little more time on this guy today.
(Translation: I started cheating and using photos for texture overlays again)
I still don't know what I'm doing with him, if anything, so the neck/clavicle area will remain fairly undefined I think.
pior - you always pull the most awesome shapes. really nice
scooby - this is sweet. reminds me a bit of Kevin J O'Connor's character from There will be blood.
endomi - i really like that face idea. it might be cool if the gun's sights fit into that hole left behind by the moving face plate, as opposed to just plugging into the eye. kinda like ultra binoculars that shoot lasers, although recoil would be a pain in the neck if you're planning a ballistic wep :P

this makes me want to fly out to california and have your babies.
New scene I've been working on, based off of Zelda Twilight Princess Concept, Rendered in UDK, about 70 percent done, textures and lighting still need work.:poly136:
perhaps it looks a little odd because there is very little shadow or AO or grunge between the brick arch and the door itself and it also looks like the door could never open outwards as it would hit the large bricks? also...no handles?
Crossposting from the DomWar thread. Still got about 500 tris to play with, so I think I'm good. I'll probably finish the model tomorrow and start texturing soonish after that.
trying to finish up my killer croc that i started for comic con. does anyone know why he often has cloth wrapped around his arms? i'm debating if i want to bother doing them. his pants still need lots of work
A gentleman T-Rex as well as a flying whale with top hat and propellers who doesn't really look like he wants to be there?
MOAR
Top hat with horns..
Here's an update of that space pillar thing
I'd like crits on my texturing, since I have never textured anything quite like this before.
edit: Hi spitty, I didn't see your post there at first. You know, I'm not one to have these sorts of feelings, but I'm actually starting to feel hopeless and demoralized by all the awesome work here on Polycount. I know you guys are employed or very well near it, so that makes you the highly visible marker of where I need to be as a 3d modeler. Unfortunately, I always seem to remain several (thousand) steps behind everyone else.
Looking really cool JordanW, I like the feel of that env. Would be nice to see how it'd look if the materials were a tad bit more separated though, perhaps the grass could be slightly more saturated? Otherwise I think you've made some great looking rocks
still slowly working on this.... starting to get macro terrain shapes in with shaders...
that front left corner (closest to viewer) really looks like it's gonna slide right off the edge. maybe delete that pillar/wall section and and replace with a broken modular piece?
don't know if you were going for the miniaturized look, but the shit looks cool

Scoob: Great work on this one, definitely one of the best piece you've done
Keep going I say!
Designed to be able to land on uneven blocks terrain.
I had to do a similar technique at work, and came across this tutorial. Might be useful.

I stumbled upon one on creativecow.net which was pretty helpfull, too...
I think there are one or two things i'll add to my composition!

P.S. ultra that head looks amazing
Pior, great traditional sculpt.
Recently finished this guy. Done entirely in Zbrush.

I still need to make the emissive map in the grey areas
and yes, it looks like this emot °0° with little hands and feet
Textured another high to low object posted previously, needs finishing off, will post soon.
Orb - Nice textures matey
DAMN YOU ITISMARIO!
YOU STOLE MY COMPLETELY ORIGINAL IDEA!

I think the ankle pops in the back too much. Maybe some more follow through/overlap on the foot will help with minor ease in/out adjustments.
also the legs extend quite symmetrically, i think you should make sure the elbow/hands extend to the same distances
here is a draw over
dude combine gunship
or dropship or whichever the whale one is
fuckin' sea creatures are sick. I ought to make one

Sigh... great work dude.
I'm pretty sure the wraps on his arms are because Killer Croc was a professional wrestler, and arm wraps say "hand-to-hand fighter".
Makes me want to read Dinosaur Comics!
What I've been working on: (first pic is a max render, second is with a viewport shader)
