I agree about the scale thing in Prophecies' environment, the big bricks do make the place look rather tiny and I think you could keep it's chunkiness while scaling them down a bit.

i hope you are doing some imagination work in between those studies, its hard to apply what you are learning to your own work otherwise. Also still life from real life subjects is alot better practice than photos. Onions and any other vegetable or fruit are great for colour.
Also the bump value is to high i think.
odium: You are not 100% right, it seems the vertical seam is just partly mirrored.
Now i want to see the uv´s and the texture sheet aswell.
Not a massive update. But I've finally worked out how this thing works after staring at the reference photo's.
The ejection tube is still there but it no longer running above the whole length of the barrel. Its just shorter and curves off to the side. Judging by the photo on the left I would say that the tube is angled slightly to deflect the shell out at a more of a right angle.
That's fucking bizarre. It must deposit the cartridge there on the bolt's retraction and eject it when the bolt returns. It's awesome tbh but i bet it's the first thing that would break.
I'm going for something industrial and alpine. I don't have much guiding principle other than "make it look cool" and "make it look like Gorge's big brother."
Decided I liked this concept I tagged in the the concept tag thread enough to model. I Started with her Gun-pike, and kept it pretty close to concept, including some of the more wonky and unrealistic aspects of it's shape and functionality.
@neox: If you look close enough you should see that the barrel is not lined up with the blade. But i can´t imagine where the fire pin would be, aside from that the hole where the sheels are supposed to fly out is to small even for a small calibre.

Wow, this is awesome! Found the zoid wiki link http://zoids.wikia.com/wiki/Geno_Saurer
I made a tiling brick mesh. Each set containing 7 bricks weighing in at 500 tris per set.
I like this a lot because it reminds me of the map design in TFC.
Sorry for cluttering up the thread, I'll leave this for a while
