Thanks man. Think I'm going to skip out on green this year. I don't feel bad though since I used green last year
AimBiz;
I'm finally posting up my pedestal. Let me know what you think
Gav & coldkodiak;
Thanks, that's what I'm going with (roughly)
Renauld;
I decided to remove the argyle pattern from the straps because it was getting muddled in that area. I figure less is more. Also I had a few people IRL telling me to take them out :P hehe. Thanks for the feedback
ThatDon;
Thanks man! That's a big compliment, you have done some awesome work! I love your wolverine model - so well done! I decided to go with the purple/orange scheme
WarNoodle;
Thanks, I've made up my mind. I'm moving forward with these colors. I might tweak a few things (still can't get the blood looking how I want), but I'm pretty happy with the colors overall.
rasmus;
You're right. I gotta knock it off with the indecisiveness and move forward.
Here's a quickie of where I am right now. Textures have been altered most of the way & my pedestals done too Tomorrow I'll try to set up a simple rig and think up some poses / lighting.
I've also been brainstorming some ideas for the presentation, I think I have a pretty good idea of how I want to lay things out.
Thanks again everyone. There's still some rough patches to smooth over, but I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Yippee
Dude, fuckin' YES. This is my favorite entry, hands down. Such flawless execution with such a unique, stylized character... it has a very McFarlane feel to it, which must be partly why I love it so :P Congrats, and I'm looking forward to your finals
After all those colorsuggestions he's starting to look like a cameleont to me. :P
Seriously though, really sweet pedestal! I looks realistic but still got that cartoonish feel about it.
I think the character has a bit of a hard time to fit in though, but just a bit. With the right pose and lighting that it all should come together perfectly.
Thanks man! I love McFarlanes work so that is a real positive in my mind
conte;
Thanks, your character is badass
AimBiz;
I'm hoping to balance his craziness with a bit of normalcy with the pedestal, but still retain some cartooniness so if that's coming through, that's cool You're right though, they need some kind of integration
Noth;
Thanks! Glad to hear the idea is coming through
I stayed up a bit later playing with lights, this isn't really my forte... But I'm sorta happy with this
Looking at it now though, I gotta fix some of those rocks on the bottom. They look kinda crappy. I'll leave that for tomorrow :P
That's alot better! Think the lights are a bit too strong though. Perhaps darken the mainlight down or give it a colder color and play around more with the rimlight. Perhaps make it appear more?
Maybe even night with a strong warm lightsource coming from his back, like he's just burned a village or something? :P
this is getting better and better indeed but there´s still one thing that seems bit odd to me
your metal seems like it´s not using a spec map or like the glossiness is just zero
it´s overall to bright and so you can´t even see a hot-spot of reflecting light
beautiful dude u are a monster indeed, im not sure that the arguile was too much i knida liked it but i can see how it could be seen as detracting, he has so many patters already. the stripes on the arms are so great, i cant get over it. the base is very versatile too lots of cool poses you could get with it
Freakin' phenomenal! I could only possibly crit the stripes on his arms looking a bit Photoshoppy, but that's really small potatoes at this point in the game. Inspiring stuff, dude.
garagarape;
Thanks man!
nrek;
Thanks, let me know what you think of the poses
MoP;
Thanks, I'm not much for lighting but tried what I could..
Abe_hokage;
Ha, thanks man... You're too kind
Muzz;
Yeah I did a quick n dirty rig and tried to get some poses out of him... hope you like
Asmuel;
Ew, all sticky. Was there a spooky ghost?
GoSsS;
Thanks!
AimBiz;
I tweaked the lights slightly, thanks for your comments!
Firebert;
lol thanks
rollin;
You're right. I tried to fix it some, not sure if I got it all the way there but I think I managed to improve it a bit.
wizo;
Thanks, I'm glad I alotted some time for the pedestal.
Belltann;
Thanks.. Yours turned out really nice too
SHEPEIRO;
I appreciate it
EraserHead;
Thanks!
EricV;
Yeah, improving my texturing was one of the things I tried to focus on
IronHawk;
I gave it a little bit more rework, hope you find it to be an improvement
WarNoodle;
Thanks for following my thread man, I appreciate all the feedback you supplied!
conte;
Thanks
JFletcher;
Thanks for your comments, yours turned out awesome
woogity;
Some people love the stripes and some hate em. Glad to hear you like them though
coldkodiak;
Thanks!
rasmus;
I tried not to stray too far from what was working... thanks
IronHawk;
haha welcome back Thanks! !
konstruct;
Thanks Who knows when it comes to placement. I'm just happy I finished on a better note than last year. My number one goal was to just not put myself in a position where I'm rushing at the end. So for me it was mission accomplished
WarNoodle;
Funny stuff Never seen that before
penrod;
Thanks!
haZe;
Yeah some people don't like the stripes. I'm hoping that when they see the cheshire cat in my references page they'll see the kind of vibe I was going for. Thanks for the comments!
Well, DomWar IV is in the books. Here's my final shots, hope you guys like them. They've all been submitted so I don't think I can change anything barring emailing Fred personally. But I highly doubt I'm going to touch this again
Amazing finish man! Everything came out great, the beauty shot is perfection :thumbup:. I hope to see this guy sitting in the top spot when the dust has settled.

Okay, need to get some sleep.. zzzz
every bit of it is pure awesomeness! great work man!
Are you going to pose him in a more threatening way? he is just kinda standing there .
Maybe even night with a strong warm lightsource coming from his back, like he's just burned a village or something? :P
drooling with envy
better and better and better every post

Have to agree with rollin again just a bit.. hard to say though cause of the style but yeah a little more metal love would be cool to take a look at.
the base/pedestal looks fantastic too.
