After trying and failing a bunch of times on other concepts, i'm gonna throw my hand into the animal lot. I'm not very good with robots or aliens, so I'm gonna go with something really basic for this so I can really get the hang of zbrush. I think i'm slowly starting to figure it out :P

Hello, Some awsome stuff, interesting to see where some of you guys are going with the base mesh. woogity, loving the dress code : ) and Kite, I am in arrrr with you textures.
Quick update, Having trouble nailing the colour. Any ideas ?
thanks Snefer. i think mine's looking at true bake fail to be honest. not to worry. was a quick sculpt and can't say i've too much inclination to attempt a low version. just wanted to get in on a piece of the action
very keen to see how a lot of these other bakes turn out though. folks are really pushing the silhouettes hard. yours being no exception
Some super cool stuff brewing in these forums guys keep it up!
Update: I spent my 500 tris in adding to the torso and working in some stub arms. Still working in shapes and eventually I will go back and refine edges sharpen and add some wear and tear to the armor. I redesigned the helment of the ExoSuit and sculpted the General some more.
vahl: Thanks! I really like the start of your texturing as well, the skin especially. I just wish I could make up my mind about what design to pick.
Here's tonights speedy, only spent about 45min on this guy. He's some sort of brain enhanced Shogi master. He's not sleeping, just contemplating his next move.
Vidar: that was one of the best ideas I have seen with that basemesh I must say. Love th expression of the face. Will it bake well? Only thing that bothers me is that he doesnt feel like a general right now, but that is of course easily fixed

I've been wondering about that too. A lot of people on all the boards are going crazy on just sculpting the crap out of these things without much thought about res, or if the cage can support their designs.
I'm really hoping things turn out alright towards the end here for everyone...
Very nice work guys,
tacit math: Really like what youve come up with, the diversity of forms and shapes is very cool.
Vidar:Wow! love the dynamics you have going on with the contrast between the
normal face and the grotesque armour/torso.
Snefer:Looks awesome man great details.
Ok its 2:30 in the morning and I finaly have some stuff starting in Zbrush GOOD.... now for some sleep. Enjoy everyone! I am having a blast doing this sculpt.
Fitting that he is of the undead... By the end of this war I will be joining the zombie ranks... braaaiinnsss....
Been a member for a while now but haven't really got involved in anything here. Keep popping in to see whats going on in your competitions, etc. Love the LPC stuff.
Anyway. Started on a sculpt. Nothing fantastic just had to get something down. Was going for an aztec feel, hence the eagle beak helmet thingy. Then the armour went all warhammer 40k. Might continue it might not.
I agree. That's a great lion solar. The bake looks really good too! Does anyone have tips on how to make the bake look better in Max?
When your lurking Ga again take a look into the wip 3d section and downlaod Marcus Dublins workshop. It will give you all you need within the zip file to produce some nice renders and bakes in max or any other sub app.

Frickin awesome. Thanks Aftermath, this is exactly what i've been looking for. Time to do some studying!
skiffy: great take on the basemesh
solar: looks great so far. i think you can play with the face a lil bit more, get some detail in there. right now it feels somewhat flat. altho if thats what your goin for, then ignore my comment .
Update on mine, if anyone cares. Changed the shirt to be more general like, changed the helmet, and refining details. Pretty generic and safe, but that's ok cuz i'm still having fun. Gotta say i'm liking zbrush more and more with each session.
Hey guys just posting an update, I've been just playing around with idea for the jacket hes going to be wearing. Still have a long ways to go and my brothers wedding is this week soo we'll see i'm going to have to kick it into gear!
Our stuff is looking really awesome keep it up guys!
Solar, Wicked work, I love the catlike face and swirly hair you have going on the guy. one of my favorite entries so far. The normals also turned out very good.
Demon Princess, Lovely diffuse work you have going there. He looks so pompus and full of himself like he knows he is the boss.
Snefer, finish this dude! he looks like a villian from G.I.Joe Will be interesting to see how you go about baking the normals.
Mynki, Nice colors, though the normal bake does look like it came out softer then I was expecting.
Wi_2, Finish we need more oldschool diffuse!!
Kite! Go Go Go GO! curious to see what you will be using the exta 500 polygons for to deck him out with gear. But yes finish cause he has some nice shapes going. The colors are realy tasty.
Woogity, Froggy Napolian? Interesting must see more.
RazorBladder, Curious to see what you will be doing on the Highpoly side for this guy. One of the few to try more with the extra 500 gear polies.
Aftermath, Interesting Idea, will keep an eye on this one just to see how the heck you will make the normals work for it

I peeked over at GA's thread and it's like 3 times as big as ours. :P
tacid: nice GoW feel to it.. looks like a locust with an antler helmet.
InProgress: someone finally made a bird! I was playing around with that idea too!
Some hipoly update:
Here is my try with the extra meshes, what do you think(posing for fun)?

Heres my modeling update.
Vidar: really like the design of your guy.
update:
Really nice high poly work sneffer.
A little update on the my general
and a very quick test bake
some problem areas, but nothing that can't be fixed...I think.

Snefer: Really cool uniform design, it kind of reminds me of "Kroenen" in Hell Boy.
Nice job everyone, were going to give all the forums a fight this year for sure.

bobo: thx for the tip, I redid the helmet design and Ill be re-modeling it in max for cleaner results.
I kinda went overboard with cubemapping...

still pretty WIP, obviously, but my vision of the guy who created that chicken I like so much at the No. 1 Wok!
