Glad you guys like the goon. I got a bit more work done on him last night and I'm a lot happier with how he looks now. Though I'm not sold on the backpack, I do like the way the larger shapes are broken up a little by the straps.
I've gotta get to work on the environment and vehicles soon. I'll probably post some of those later on.
Those straps really make it look better swizzle. Hmm, if not the backpack how out one of those gun holder things with small pockets or things hanging from them? Or a jet pack =p
Ruz - that car model is coming along really well - the front looks a little too flat maybe? Something that I would have nightmares about trying to model!
killingpeople - Yep - that's meant ot be one of the little critters that he has killed in his life as an exterminator. He's come back as an unwilling ally to the Hairy Swatter's great pest control extravaganza... or something
Ruz - Car is looking sweet, but the nose is definitely still too flat.
arlrex - Usually alpha issues like that can be fixed by making the alpha'd part of the model separate and giving it it's own material. I know that's what I usually have to do to get things to show up right in Maya's viewport.
More work on the Warhammer boiling oil, lowpoly + normals + occlusion. Going to add the spikes tomorrow and start texturing. Spent all day today fighting some file corruption issues in Maya.

Rob - Thinking about that atm. Gonna try to make it out of geometry with the shader to get the same outline on all of it see how it goes. Using a different shader is the back up plan. =p
Decided to give the character a small break while I make a little stage. Around 3 hours so far (research, reference hunting, sketching, chocolate milk and bread break, and modeling). Small pic for now ^^;
Decided to work a bit more on this before going to bed. Bigger render than last one. Missing some bamboo and stepping stones on the the foreground then onto unwraping.
Currently around 3.5k polygons. Like 1/4 of that is from those slabs on the front.

Waiting for the frined to unwrap the droid.Started a new project. Its an army type girl. She will have big ass boots,gloves and a sports bra. After my last female bust, i decided to have a go at making breasts and the female genitalia.
Aiming at a 10 k! (ive been been further than 7k )

Hello Fallout 3 :P Looks straight out of that world. The pre-looted fridge makes me sad.
Very good job keeping the ambiance of the ref, though the lighting could use a tad more of that yellow green tinge. Though doing that via post process will match the photo's look even better.
oh well a bit more technical but I played with maxscript and wrote a script that...
...creates a unique list of instances of the selection and sorts them by volume size. Since the new resulting list of objects are instances of existing instances you can tweak prefabs outside from your scene compositions.
This is great if you want to tweak individual instances of your scene or level or want to determine how many instances and which instances you are using.
