Sorry for spamming a bit but I have been doing a minimum of 1 a day because I literally didnt do any art, not even 1 minute for the last 7 months. Same basemesh for all of these. From now on I will only post the decent ones ~
After doing a pencil still life study of a red dolly (hooray wheeled devices) I had the unbearable urge to model one. Contradictory to the thread's original intention, I sort of want to finish it. 30 unhurried minutes in Silo to block it out... would have to go and look at the thing in daylight to figure the complex parts out. (link)
I sort of want to try a displacement map trick to get tread on the wheels; I have heard too many times about a "displacement map trick" but never actually heard the trick revealed, so I invented my own, and am ninety-eight percent sure it will work perfectly... actually, I won't be able to sleep without trying it so let me try it really quick... yes, it works! Good enough for me. (link) Edit: Okay, so this is what I managed. Satisfying to figure out a new technique. ^^; Made the displacement map by cutting it into a plane, then editing in Photoshop for symmetry and seamlessness.
Little cartoon skull. Never tried any sculpting apps before. done in mudbox 1. hopefully as i get more comfortable I can pay more attention to my overall shapes.
thank you flatHead!
i think it was one of "undoz practical set" the matcap called cavity check
but i tweaked the material a little bit for that picture
really awesome neox - is the above image captured from mudbox, or renderend later? iid be interested in how you painted it.......looks too good to be the default mbx paint features...
