Procrastinating doing anything productive so I thought I would work on some more rocks. I think I'm progressing with this natural looking stuff, not sure though. I mean it doesn't seem too difficult anyways, but I have no idea if this looks good or not. I think so? Bout 1.5 hours on this.
thats cool but there is very little real world structyre that would make it more real looking and less like a clay model. use ref
Cheers, I was using some references of stone arches, most of them are Arizona type rocks with smooth erosion lines. The others were essentially flat stone, which I had originally started to make, but it seemed so uninteresting. Gonna try to run off another attempt tonight.
Keepin this to the speed model thread, didn't spend really much time on this at all. Was watching hockey mostly. Trying to go for more of a chiseled rock / lord of the rings bridge style stone arch/walkway.
I think at the end of the day, some of this with some of the previous rock/lava-type debris would probably end up being the best result. Oh well, still trying to keep things simple/loose and fast ala this thread!
Playin around with an eroded rock. Started from a plane, shoulda started from a box. Lots to learn still. About 1.5 hours.
Saidin - great rock stuff! i like the first eroded rock and the first bridge, use 'em to build a small scene maybe? and you watch hockey? you're my new Internets best friend. haha
Havent contributed in a while. Heres one i did on lunch break, and in downtimes while stuff was rendering ect =P made 100% in zbrush, just zspheres and such.
zspheres are fun, but they make horrible geo in places. which is really frustrating. Mayb i just suck with them =/
Thought I'd post a few of my speed sculpts up. They fit the bill of work started without any hope of finishing it! Bit of a cheek as I have already posted these up on my Sketchbook thread.:poly139:
Perhaps not speedy enough at 2 hours each, but I hope to get faster!
seforin: Thanks, all of these I started in mudbox, sculpted up to around level 4, then imported into Zbrush3.
I saw somebody use this technique on Zbrush Central and thought I'd try it out.
I love the simplicity of Mudbox and the more complex tools of Zbrush.
The sharp edges I did in Zbrush with the pinch tool and Lazy mouse (good for unsteady hand!)
hmm so you started with basic meshes (boxes or whatever) And then sculpt up to subd 4 which is a rough defining/ form point, and then bring into brush to do additional sculpting and defining...hmm I think I might try that with my new work to see how it comes out, thanks for the tip my friend!
I work at a company that sells granite and marble im making them a 3d template so they can easily show customers what there materials will look like in there house really simple once i was done with the template i messed around with it on my lunch break and made this :P
not much but it was a fun quick thing i made on my lunch break

I love the hair and coat on that guy!
Its like Photoshop and Painter, I like bits of both so often have them running side by side!
