thanks guys, I'm glad you like it, that's actually rendered in vray, not in marmoset (except one shot in the game artisans gallery, which is in marmoset)
More detail cooking... The sword should at least have some scratches / nics, as well as put some highlight and shadow information in your texture, you can get a base by baking out an AO map, but you really need to push this texture before you start anything else man.
Other thing is man, you should have just modeled this as well, be good practice
Cookie, look at some screens from a current title that has swords and such and look at what they have done with their texture and apply the tecqniues and style to your own work. study helps a lot.
My Make Something Unreal entry for phase
Finished this up today. 2 complete characters, interchangeable parts like they should be. No voicepack yet, ran out of time, but it will be added to in the future. I've had bout 4hrs of sleep since wednesday, but its all worth it, and dumping this in every forum I visit, or would be interested, since I feel accomplished for once.
Lots of in game shots. These are BIG. About 1MB JPG's 2880X1800
Xan With Stinger
Tensor with RuneStorm Lightning gun, an Awesome weapon.
Other bot "dodging" a link gun shot
other bot flak cannon shot
Blue Team Bot on Viper (I love that vehicle)
FireFight
Flag war
I havn't done a lot of sculpting, here's the first model I've semi sculpted from a very primitive base mesh. Arms, hands, head, and feet all still need to be done but I reached a stopping point tonight and thought I'd share.

cookie: It's difficult to crit without knowing what you're going for. If you want to make something cartoony then what you have probably works. When you think about it you know as well as the rest of us that gold doesn't look like that and blade metal doesn't look like that. If you want it to look closer to real, get some refs, use images.google.com
I dunno, I just got a model and started a texture.
Hmm, yes, the metal doesnt really look real, but I do look at refrence, it's just that I'm not really good at this, I need alot of practise, I think I'm going to make something else now, I'll try to do better and check some more ref, like oblivion.
I think I should stop using filters for metal, I'm going to try to not use them this time, or al least, let it look less spongy.

use photos as base materials ( adsting levels and cleaning first) then paint over the top. deffinatly dont use filters. and for reference, use pictures of real swords only look at games when you want to steal their techniques
Havent done any polypainting in zbrush till i figured to give it a go tonite, and damn its pretty sweet once you get around the settings, heres a quick doodle, about an hour on some half-finished head sculpt of mine..
had to get away from the world of photosourcing...so I decided to start painting a bit. Startedit this evening and Im hoping to have it done by tomorrow night.
yeah very nice style zera! Though i think you painted too much 3d in the rocks, if its only for a 2d style platformer that will be allright but if the camera also rotates it could look very strange. That gradient overlay makes it also look more unrealistic flat.
very nice style and lighting Katzeimasck seeing that project develop is a real breeze, so thank you and Neox (and anyone else on this project) to keep us updated with badass stuff

I want to die.
Great job Vahl!
*cough*
Care about an tutorial ?
*please*
Nice one bunny,
only thing that bothers me is the bloom effect, makes it look a bit too blurry
Ooh it's too hard, amazing work. Riiiiiidiculous.
Looks fantastic. How many poly is that?
I think the real winner is the marmoset engine. Everything that that engine shits out is gold.
I'd so hit that.
great work vahl, love the final presentation
good use of the engine
Finally got round to finishing him.
Fairly pleased,as always coulda/shoulda dones things differently,but overall i think i got a likeness.
the full character is something about 8000 tris
See, thanks man, i was looking for something like this.
Working with regular clay was fun but its very limited.
Im excited to work with it!
Model is not mine, I could've made it myself, but I didn't, becaus I'm practising some textures.
CC welcome, I'm going to do a specmap for it now (first specmap ever!!)

I can't tell the difference. it still flat and lacks any real detail except geometry detail.
looks awesome neox
And gold isn't yellow.

epic
boring night ahead of adding pipes to this. Everything is done, resting on the maps, just waiting to be added in.
My camera is dying and the colors are crap in the photo... I need a huge scanner or something...
Awesome... Nice looking lights and tiles
Nice concept:) desided to make it for fun in the free time, couple of hours model and textures
did some rocks for airborn and added them in our testlevel.
the seams and and textures are all wip, but i think it's still looking good
