Josh, I can honestly say that looks so much better than any of the Pokemon game art they release. If they had the balls to release a game with that level of quality, it would be awesome to see from a technical standpoint.
Alas, Nintendo will just keep on releasing the same old game... Makes sense, it DOES print money for them, but damn, what could be eh?

You're one sexy mofo Super! uNf! Looking good, reminds me of the inbreds in The Hills Have Eyes and also a really ugly actor that seemed to be used primarily as mutants in shows... dunno his name though...
Been without modeling for some long time now, and today opened a some few month old models that I never finished and reworked it with what I've been learning. Added the old models on the image, even they were just start forms I believe the overall look and proportions got a lot better, at least hope so.
Vitor, your sculpts are pretty consistently good. The only thing that really bugs me about them is the ears. They always look the same and that's not necessarily a good thing. The look unnatural or malformed.
I did a little paintover animation to show you what I think you could do to make them look better. Hope it's helpful!
lol Yes, learning anatomy would be helpful. It should come before you start messing around in 3-D programs.
That said, it looks like you have some potential, so I think you could benefit greatly from some good anatomy studies and human face references for next time.
doin some hair tests....super frustrating at first....gettin fun now.
Love that Hair can you share a few construction shots and how many varations of alphaa you have? I'm really into getting alpha hair looking good but it's a hard nut to crack, for me anyway.
What kind of materials do you use for this sculpt? I was thinking about doing few real sculpts myself but I honestly havent had time yet to research it.
It has alot of character, the white marbles look like a pare of dead eyes
It looks like regular clay but then again.. its too smooth and detailed, plus your plate is too clean. Im also curious what you used since i want to get rid of regular clay!
The 3rd shot is win, you should make the final shot from that angle+lighting
Buddy, for a start, i would recommend regular, its cheap and you have alot of volume to mess around with. Its great to get some exp with
on second thought, i can get my clay to look like that in a wet state
hey all, Im working on a gun atm, but Im getting really wierd stuff on my normal map. Baking normals has never been my expertise so I was hoping someone could help me out. Im using Maya 2008.
i'm still learning as i'm normally a programmer and just starting to work with a tablet - i have much to learn . some basic concept sketches for various props in my game, lamps, pots, trash, etc. :
Decided to get off my ass and start a personal project, going for a voodoo / shaman / witchdoctor kinda guy. Whilst thinking about exactly what I want to go for, i figured he's going to use a skull somewhere Bit rough + there are inacuracies, and the side view etc needs a bit of loving, as do the teeth.
I'm using: J-Mac Classic Clay, its an oil based clay, so once i'm done i can just cannibalize it and make a new sculpt, it basically lasts forever, never dries and never sags and never hardens, all u have to do is warm it up a little bit occasionally, but even that isn't really necessary, i think i'm working with it in soft or medium hardness. i also have castiline, but it sux, so annoying having to always heat it up and then it gets all waxy, i hate it. the only downfall of classic clay is since it doesn't ever get really hard or whatever u can't make really small stuff with it, its good for busts and larger sculpts though. you also can't bake it in an oven like super sculpy, so the only way to get a cast of it and get it painted is to make a mold, but for practice its pretty nice. i need bigger beads for eyeballs too...
working on a Airbørn character i stopped working on almost a year ago
blocked the basemesh, nor heading for sculpting... ok going back to my job now, will work on this on the weekend i suppose
Finished it up. FatCap, thanks for the crit, upping the ambient really helped those shadows:
Hey josh, this is looking phenomenal...One thing though...why does it look so washed out compared to the previous 3q render you did...Maybe it's just me, but I think it looked more vibrant.
Hmmm for some reason I like the colors of the spec-color better than the diffuse for that turtwig,it seems just way too saturated! Anyway, awesome job!
Lol, now Im very curious on how it would look if you switched the spec-color with the diffuse :P
WOW, thank you guys for your positive remarks! I am glad you like it.
Tremulant, I had to crank the ambient to get rid of the black shadows. I wanted it to be on the more cartoony Pokemon side of things. As most things with normal maps, seeing it with the lights playing across the surface brings out the normal map and specular touches, maybe I'll make a turn around or something...
Kwakkie, don't fear the saturation, embrace the color! lol.
I need to start making more stuff. I'm going to try to spend at least 1 hour every day doodling either 2d or 3d.
This shall be the start of my newfound vigor!
