Guys calm down, my timer still says 6 hrs. to go. So I'm guessing sometime around midnight we have more info.

While that's true, the problem is that we still don't know who's midnight is actually the correct one since the timer has been counting down to everyone's respective midnight since this started
hehe its funny. I figured Fred would have fixed the timer to work on server time this year, after all the "WTH?" posts last year regarding this same issue.
Yeah, I noticed the counter was gone as well. I've been refreshing the site pretty much once every half hour. Hopefully something comes up tonight, because my plans got cancelled so I'm in the mood for some concepting!
This has probably all been said before, so I apologize. I am too lazy to read through 8 pages.

This looks to have poor organization written all over it. Delay shouldn't have happened cause it should have been sorted out before hand and thought out. Just my opinion on things there and yes I know not everything can be expected, but this isn't some minor thing. Maybe it's because of where I grew up. I've known Chinese new year is always a big event in the Chinese community.
The countdown timer is another point of someone not thinking properly. It could easily have been setup to obtain a base time from the server and offset to the proper time.
Then there's the website itself. Shouldn't the website be it's own domain and not a sub page of gameartisans.com? To me it'll just give fuel to people who don't win claiming everything was biased especially if someone from gameartisans wins 1st place.
And another rumor I heard which I hope isn't true is FredH himself entering the competition, which honestly is true is in really poor taste. As the main organizer he would have access to the theme well before anyone else, which would be a major advantage.

Feel free to flame me or what not. I'm just voicing my views over what I am seeing happen so far. I honestly am tempted to enter if only for some of the sweet prizes I know I wouldn't win.
These things happen. I feel for Fred and more than understand if things don't go as smoothly as planned. Its a big undertaking for one person. Additionally, it personally doesn't bother me if he enters as long as he abstains from being a judge. He's got a lot of talent and I'd love to see what he'd do.
Yeah, when you have to coordinate HOW many sponsors, forums, participants, and the like, then see how 'easy' it is to maintain the schedule you're trying for (not to mention getting the brief properly translated into Russian, Chinese, and who knows what else). It'll be late, and the judging will likely take longer than expected, but who cares? This is a contest and a challenge, not a job deadline.
I know it's not an easy thing to plan. I just pointed out a couple things that should have been foreseen. It'll hopefully be stuff taken into account next dom war.
I still don't feel FredH should be able to enter. It's more on the principal that he has had access and knowledge of the briefs which as I pointed out is an advantage even if a small one. Personal opinion. I agree he's talented and I would like to see his entry.
I'd love to see Fred enter the competition, he's a wicked good artist. obviously under the obligations that he's not a judge, so what if he's known the theme beforehand? I'd imagine he's been quite a bit busy managing everything else to even make a solid idea for himself.
certainly no naysaying from your perspective Keg, because I definitely see where you're coming from; I'm just looking forward to the competition in general and seeing how much I can learn from the event.
then again I can see how the bigger the rewards end up being, the more competitive individuals might look at this competition, so I might just be ignorant to the whole thing since I've sat on the sidelines the past two.
hey guy's no worries, evrything is gonna be just fine, there are probably some issues and 24h more or less... well you know... let us just be patient...
and because Fred is entering the contest, who cares?! Just he's entering doesn't mean that we can't have fun doing our art and even his forum is entering the war which doesn't mean that they gonna win, it's just all about getting experience, new friends and most important thing having fun together!
whats better then men having a fictional war against each other especially a war in creativiti
Ahh man, I`m in Kansai Airport Japan, about to jump on a 10 hour flight to Melbourne. Was hoping I`d have some furious DomWar concepting to occupy my stagnating mind-juices...

Durnit.
Waitaminute, CST? That means my timer is the correct one, w00T!
Hurry up already Dom war ;(
[edit] Yeah, Fred likes to toy with us.
I don't think the countdown will be accurate to the miniute or hour anyway guys.
Theres not many themes that could send me into catatonic disinterest as much as that would.
tip: don't hold your breath :-)
