this is sick man, love the colors. it doesnt look too grainy, what settings/lens were you using for this. I have the same camera as you and am still trying to get some decent low light shots that are not super blurry or grainy.

Thanks, man! The lense I used for this shot is the AF-S 50mm F/1.8. Seriously, it should be the first lens you get. This prime lens is INCREDIBLY sharp, and works WONDERS for low-light shots. It lets you shoot with pretty low ISO, and still maintain a good enough shutter speed for things in motion. I use this lens for concerts, when the lighting is super terrible, and the musicians move fast, and it works great.
Earthquake can give you a HUGE list of reasons that explains why prime lens are the shit, and why you need them. Get a prime before getting another zoom lens. Trust me, you won't regret it.
I'm assuming you're trying to take low-light shots with your kit lens? If so, I understand what you mean. This lens just isn't fast enough for low-light situations. It's GREAT when you have lots of light to work with, and it focuses really close, so you get nice close-ups. But when your light runs out, you're in trouble.
Side Question: Has anyone else posted their photos on Google+? After posting my last round of photos, I've been getting flooded with G+ followers (photographers). Though I never get much love here, it seems like people are somehow finding me there. I'm just curious if anyone else is seeing this. I know I post publicly there, but it just seems unusual I guess.
wow that looks really nice EQ. the DOF is really narrow I did not expect that .. is it at 1.8? Bokeh is really nice as well. Never expect that from a 24mm lens ....but I just looked at the price so it makes more sense now Congrats on the new toy.
Yeah that is at 1.8, the DOF is pretty wide on this lens cause its 24mm, but up close you can get some really nice creamy bokeh shots. It also focuses to 1:2.7 macro, so you can focus just a few inches from the front of the glass. Its pretty sharp at 1.8 too but really sharp at 2.8.
I think its got 9 blades, rounded aperture, the bokeh is really nice. It retails for 450-550 but I got a used copy for $285! It sells for a bit more on eBay, but used for about $300-350 its not a bad deal.

I found myself not really using the Sony 35/1.8 but using the Quantaray 24/2.8 quite a lot, so I'm selling both to pay for this guy.
