All around Berlin they have these small bronze cobble stones with inscryptions written on them, usually in front of an apartment building, house or remains of a building.
This one reads as follow.
"Here lived,Alice Erb,born 1904,deported 1943,murdered in Auschwitz"
"Here lived,Brigitte Erb,born 1937,deported 1943,murdered in Auschwitz"
poop that's tottaly cool. the face is a bit too bright/spotty lit imo but the very smooth background and the composition really give it an extraordinary feel. would think a kicker light could have helped these hairs a little maybe.
Talk about perfect focal range! Very well done! Did you do the shot on a delay, or have someone take if after you got the settings the way you wanted with the other person as your stand in?
Tripod, remote trigger, left the camera in manual focus and just focused on the lamp post, and made sure I was standing even with it.
I love the dof from my full frame sensor with sub f/2 apertures.
*edit* Oh yeah, with settings, I always work in manual exposure settings, so I was pretty close with my first guess before taking the first photo, just had to bump it up one stop. This has the benefit of not doing anything new for you from frame to frame, it just keeps doing what you last set it to.
Hehehe, j/k. Getting a nice lens that can separate the subject from the background/foreground is a must, and really fun to play with.
Well, a 5D original can be had for quite cheap these days (for a full frame camera, that is). Checking Fredmiranda or ebay or craigslist can yield a body for around 1,000. It's double that for the next cheapest (sony a850), and it goes up from there.

Very true on the eBay thing. I've had a 5D slip through my hands way too many times on there, never heard of Fredmiranda. Will go check it out.
the thing with digital is I have the best ability to break stuff and so I have been banned from holding anything remotely expesnive.
Saying that I was going to buy an e-520 but even 300 is too much so still with colour and black and white film (manual developing- saves a bomb). Im stock piling fuji instax film atm though for my oz trip which will be fun.
Great shot poop. You've got me looking closely at your photos to see what you've changed and what is real. For instance, I know that bench couldn't be sitting that way on the path And I'm curious about the lighting on the bench. Is that reflective strips reflecting your flash? or just an after effect?
danr: I love the angle of that shot. You're dog's expression is funny too
Hmmm, I just got an email today from Schmap.com. They put the photo below on a 'short-list' of images they are considering using in their Orlando Guide. They found it on my Flickr account.
awesome composition on that one poops! that's a new fav of mine... plus those benches are way rad... what kind of housing are they using over those fluorescents?!? i mean, to be able to sit on that, it's gotta be pretty stable over the bulb, and pretty expensive i would imagine. were those made by an artist? anyway... ramble.... awesome way to use the lighting... ah, i'll shutup... i love it man

Black and white seemed appropriate
So far ive counted 7 of these on my daily route to work.
They're all over Cologne. I've seen well over a hundred.
Minehead - out front of Butlins, hung over from All Tomorrow's Parties 'Nightmare before Christmas' event hosted by My Bloody Valentine.
Awesome art director.
Taken a while back, cropped it and is looking much better

I sold my Eos 350d, this frame was taken from a video recorded with a Kodak.

my 5 year old Step-daughter, Ellie in the snow today.
no special camera or lens or anything, just a point + shoot.
That was pretty random, 2 months old or so.
I've made insane amounts of photos of my dog tbh :poly136:
