Some pics from yesterday hiking around the lake by my place. I took somewhere around 500 texture photos yesterday of varying rock and lake bed surfaces. The lake is right now sitting at only 40% capacity due to drought and lack of rain, so a ton of stuff that would normally be underwater is exposed and the limestone stuff is all bleached out from the sun exposure this summer.

that duck image is now my desktop background at work and home
and when my girlfriends not looking its going on her laptop too
good job man i fucking love ducks and this one is shifty
i have a canon 450D, but sometimes use it with old Pentax manual lenses (with an adapter), you can find them on ebay, they're usually pretty cheap.
for this photo i used a Takumar SMC 28mm 3.5
i also have a Takumar smc 50mm 1.4, great lens, but focusing with it wide open is really tricky
(oh, and this lens is radioactive, how cool is that !)
Jasp and crizz - what cameras are you guys using? They old style coloring and sort of out of focus vibe is HAWT
The only film slr you ever want- Olympus Om-1 with a D.Zuiko lens (i have a 35-70 which I used for these and a 50mm prime and Im looking into a 25mm). I use old expired film because I can pick up 10 for £10 (normally asa 200-400 ) which might change the outcome.
Nothing like the feeling of firing off a shot with an Om-1
Those Currituck photos are nice Jordan.
Have you gone to Lookout near Beaufort? The small islands with the wild horses surrounding that area are awesome.
Great portrait - Can you go through your workflow for these? I'm curious. Maybe you have. I'll do some searching.
Yep, normally I do on my blog: http://mr-chompers.blogspot.com but I haven't hit this one yet. I wasn't sure if I felt it strong enough to hold up a blog post, but it's been a while since I've made one so I probably should.
Thanks for the write-up man! Really informative. I like your style a lot - What kind of lens do you use for portraits? Anything special? I only ask because I know some people are pretty fond of using a macro lens for portraiture.
Poop, I was using a 400 Agfa Vista in that set, expired film (07/07) (because you can get them cheapish).
was going to put in a 200, lucky really as the zoo I was at was quite low light anywyas and so I was having to use hand shake noticeable shutter speeds (fortunately I have a steady hand).
Cool Chrizz1. I think I want to try a film camera and some Fuji Reala 200, I really like the colors that setting gives me in DXOmark, so I want to see if the real thing is as nice. Plus good film cameras are cheap here in Germany.
Seaseme, no problem. I use only 2 lenses, a 35mm and an 85mm. Both of them are extremely sharp, and have sub f/2 apertures for low light work and really isolating the subject. I use 35 when I want to show the environment around the subject, and 85 when I want to compress the fov.
Poop, have you ever tried to make a camera? Like a Brownie knock off? Give it a shot and get the images drum-scanned. Just need to convert the bathroom into a darkroom from time to time.
I used an old L lens and a metal project box for the body.
@firebert: thanks! And no I didn't see any wild horses while there, I saw signs and trips for them but I didn't go and see any, it would have been cool though!
Nice one JordanW. I find thought that with compositions like this, you should really try to get dead center. This is almost centered, but just enough off to be bothersome.

I liked the original colour version on the camera, but think I prefer the sepia one.
