nothing special, just came back from a fun night of partying, the weather was just perfect (20ºc) and the visibility was quite good. I love it when I can see the mountains far away. I'm in a great mood right now!
So what is a good camera to get? Someone mentioned pentax to me.
I'd go with a more "mainstream" brand like nikon or canon (not really taking sides, it's just that you'll have an easier time finding accessories/lenses for them)
Trying for a more film like look to my B&W images lately in the blacks.
Could you not just use film? I would give you my om-1 and d.zuiko prime lens but I wont. They are cheap to pick up and the shutter button has to have the smoothest action to any camera EVAR
Sure I could, but I'm addicted to the speed and quick turn around, the color fidelity when I shoot color, and the resolution I get from digital (compared to 35mm). I can match the dynamic range, and the only thing I find appealing about film is it's response tone to light, which can be emulated.
If someone gave me a free film camera I would try it as a novelty, but I don't have the patience to shoot a roll, pay and wait for developing.
Plus I'm in love with my 3 lenses, and all the Canon film EOS bodies are polished plastic dog turds aesthetically.

lucky I shoot with a metal Olympus then:poly124:.
I would buy a e-520, but a its about 280 squids which I dont have and B I LOVE to experiment with film which you really dont get that satisfaction with digital, I am in the middle of pinhole mania at the moment. I love the depth of field you get with a pinhole and the fact you can make one from anything.
So last night about 6:30pm we get a power out, and im always telling my clients and friends over the globe about the lightning storms we get here in Brisbane. So I decided its probably a good chance to try and get some snaps!
Twas nothing else better to do other than watch mother nature throw her tantrum. I managed to get about 10 bolts but these were the best of the bunch by far.

Rolfness: I wish I could claim credit, but it's just a damn fine lens opened to f/1.4 on a full frame sensor. It's my favorite lens.
Notman: It was a light parade in preparation for the Christmas light parade in Glasgow, Scotland. The guy who owns the costumes is a friend of mine here in Cologne, and I'm his photographer of choice, so when he can budget me in, I fly around with him.
Nice one Eraserhead. Is that an slr or a point/shoot? One thing you might want to do on these keeper shots is correct for Chromatic Aberrations. Both photoshop CS3/4 and Lightroom can do this.
Fo sho Poop. It was taken with a Canon Xsi, I saved out the Raw file of it so I'll do better PP work when I get my home workstation step (only have my crappy laptop atm).
One from last night, my friend showed me his awesome balcony over the weekend, and I saw him out there smoking, and it gave me the idea for this shoot. I asked him if I could come back the following day and took this.
Took this last night. Im not overly happy with the outcome as i couldn't get my tripod close enough to get the bars out so i had to settle for this. Might go back and see if i can get it again.
So thats Seattle huh, awesome \o/
Its nice to see other people on the left doing the same,
I took that pic some time ago at the Military Aviation Museum, (somewhere in the center of holland)
i've been going there since i was able to walk i think, one of my favorite places
damn i want to go to seattle right now -.- i like the one with the lights more, - it seems the background gets more attention (while it's really hard to make out the mountain in the previous one).
i took these home just a few days ago (needed a bit of photoshops for dramatics) sorry if this post destroys your internets - i forgot to size them down
Thanks Eraserhead, the abandoned apartment was on the top floor of the building my sister lives in Brooklyn. The building is actually nice, this apartment apparently caught on fire a long time ago and it was never repaired.
