rube... you dont know what you are doing to me, i ..
the squirrel.. is far out! ah i love it.
martin, looks like you got yourself some great nature to be surrounded with!
make sure you dont set it on fire huh, seems like you r burning up some leftovers
There's an abandoned mining town in the mountains where I live (Hachimantai). Will have to go back when I don't have people in the car waiting for me. It's a HUGE area and this is just one of the buildings (each one is 3~4 stories with 20~30 rooms on each floor). From the stuff I found laying around, the building I was in was the one where the workers processed the core samples and slept. The other building looks to be a school. Will be going back so you guys will have a huge load of ref-images coming.
I don't know if it's advice, but my D60 can be pretty noisy when the ISO settings get high. 400 isn't too bad but 800 it gets pretty noticable, that could be part of your problem.
and one more squirrel, I need to find something else... maybe chipmunks
Actually, that squirrel was taken at 800ISO and it was pretty noise before, espcially in the blurred background. It's a bit better when I scalled him down.
Seaseme, its probably what rube said, your camera is probably at a higher ISO setting than you need it to be at during the daytime 100-200 is a good ISO setting and will have hardly any noise, if at all.
The way ISO settings work with digital cameras is much like that of ISO/ASA film speeds. The lower numbers are what is known as slow, and are less sensitive to light, they require more exposure to produce pictures, but produce virtually no noise/grain, now a higher ISO is more sensitive to light, requiring less exposure to get a picture, making it better for low light situations, however the trade of is that with the higher speed film, you will have a lot more grain/noise in your image.
I love the way you experimented with low light and a high contrast filter. I can see the nuances and hidden messages of this shot that conjure up deep thoughts of masochistic eroticism. I can't stop looking at this, like looking into a mirror of my soul... very deep shit man.
I apologize for the quality, I hope to have a nice camera soon so that I may dabble in photography with more quality results. Anyway, this is a picture from my trip to Oregon to visit my cousin (He works for Dark horse comics, how swell) and what not. The picture was taken from the upper floor of some sort of house thing on a mountain (I forget what its called) and there is a big river there, and on the other side is Washington, I believe. But, Yeah, that's all I remember about it.
I'm happy you guys liked it! I like doing those extra long exposures, longer than they should've been. Helps you see better how light bounces around.
Last year I've done a lil bit of travelling around the americas, got some nice pictures. Here's where I started, in Park City, UT - USA. Laid a normally exposed picture on top of the super exposed one. Both were taken around 8pm, so it was quite dark.
Hey Chip,
nah man, i never really looked into putting it all together,
its probably not worth it too,
Your first shot is nice man, a bit small though
Thanks Emil, i have no clue what i've been doing, and im getting really frustrated about not finding any great nature topics to take pics off. everything is still hard to find and even so, i think i've seen and shot all of em over the last year.
(uhmm guess im trying to say that im more forced to into other types of photography lately, types i like less )
I need to get far away from here with some macro lenses and mega tele, but yeah.. <i need money>
D90, nice man
I'd say try and be free with that thing, dont look at too much other photos so you hit it fresh, instead of being influenced and start making shots like the lonely tree on the hilltop things.
I dug into some old folders, found two nice photos out of maybe a familiar serie, things i want to get back to doing,

More pictures Quaggs?
Both taken with my cellphone so the quality kinda sucks.

Malaysia
That was taken at a train station which heads straight to our international airport, bit creepy cause it was only me and him there.
Deeply touched.

nothing special... tried to do a panorama without a tripod and failed.
had to stop when going home, weird things
I really like the nightshot, it's so surreal, a landscape of light.

Taken at a Big Lebowski themed bar in Berlin.
I really should get a proper camera some day.
I'm new to photography, only really made a proper go at it for the last like 2 months.
Entity, some great ones from you as well.
I'm picking up a Nikon D90 some time this week or next week, so I'll be participating in this thread soon.

and this one is just a fun technique i was messing around with.
Would've looked slightly more ballin' if you dicked with the perspective to make all the doors straight vertically.
One from me, leaving Prague. Great city! Next will be Berlin, then Krakow again, then Wien, then Budapest... god bless Erasmus project.
