I painted this over a photo to save a bit of time, not much of it left tho just the basic proportions.. next gen model concept idea.. its a bit unfinished
edit: any ideas to give it a bit more 'POW!' or 'ZAPP!' welcome. possibly 'ZOOM!'
Assymmetrical tattoo's on her waist. Define what exactly the knee-guards are. The cyan color...does it glow? What is it? Take the furry collar idea and impliment it in her boots for some design cohesion.(it is a furry collar right? you can sorta see her shoulders through it, so its either a furry collar or an inflatable toilet seat) Give her a pack of smokes rolled into one of her sleeves or something. Nose/lip/eyebrow ring?
Damn thats pretty cool, something about the skintones is sort of seperating the face from the rest of the body at first glance. Maybe its just being done to a more refined state that is throwing it off. That or theres a bit more green in the face.
Dang Cholden, that metal is really convincing in it's material type. I really like the combo of normal/spec/color you have going on. Any chance you could post the flats? I'm especially interested in your specular map.
Hey that's awsome Cholden. I second the notiion that you just sort of document your process for us, You seem to do them pretty quick. Oh yeah and its Grate too.
Thanks guy, I've been getting a lot of requests for information on the process. I plan to put together some tutorials on how it's all done. I need to assemble a few more things before writing it all, but it'll definately happen soon.
Hey all, heres what Ive been working on. Let me know what you think. Both are right under 5000 tri's. Im still finishing textures on the bottom one for my demo reel and graduation.
Those look really good to me. I'd probably go for more contrast on the Orc's armour (mainly really bright hot highlights to pick out the metal details), unless you're planning on using a specular map or something. I hope you're just keeping it pure diffuse though, I think that looks great.
The Skaven's fur around his face seems too regular and well-kept - probably should be more like the leg fur, more clumpy, messy and dirty.
Yeah I wouldnt mind working there but I graduate in a month so right now I wouldnt mind working pretty much anywhere. Everything is diffuse so far, I dont think they use any specular maps etc so Im trying to stay in their specs. Thanks for the advice.
Those pieces are really coming together. I like the small details. I was once told to lay a light leather spec or bump map over the leather with an overlay. I think it helps some. I need to do it for the Skaven shoulder piece.
I was working from a concept piece off the mythic site. I may desaturate it more to get a bit more grey but this felt closer to the concept to me.
Slow, slow progress on a skin for a model showed on page 171.
Considering to ditch the helmet and shield entirely. They don't really fit with the style of the rest, and the helmet would block the head, which (for my standards) didn't come out too bad.
i think that the coulour scheme on the highpoly would fit better , the camouflage texture is killing it , the fingers might be a tad too thin , still that highpoly looks impressive !

More on nobody:
Trying to make it look more...leathery...
reflections a bit overblown at mo but will fix that.
