Been messing with the symmetry tools in photoshop for some speed-painting characters... it's a much faster way to get a design down (SOME MAY ARGUE QUITE LITERALLY HALF THE TIME)
The problem with it is the character looks quite static, so I've been using it to bash together a design, then using the lasso and warp/transform tools (+quick overpainting) to make it a little more interesting.
That's crazy man... you ever see a hairless chimp? Young Jamie, go ahead and pull that sh*t up... those things are BUILT dude, like absolutely shredded *leans in breathes into the mic* here's the thing though, we've never seen a chimp that lifts weights, so can you imagine what those things would look like if they started bodybuilding? Get one of them all juiced up and on TRT and roided to the gills? I mean, it's entirely possible - those muscles are like CORDED STEEL...tear you apart man
Good news! Got promoted to Senior Concept Artist on Friday, so I thought I'd celebrate with posting this disgusting thing. Big shout out to my team at work who I wouldn't have been able to do it without - thank you for being such a disciplined, creative and hardworking bunch xxx
...as for the spider-pig I'll be posting a compositing tutorial when I get it all painted up and updated on my artstation as I've learned a lot from some new processes that I've hacked a bit
Feels good to be back posting artwork after quite a hiatus... Been very busy behind the scenes working on a few big projects some of which will be revealed soon... but for now here's a little (unrelated) lunchtime noodle doodle that I've been doing of a little critter called "EEEE!!!" + a process video going through the design from a thumbnail sketches to final rendered layers - line/ambient occlusion/shadow/flats/lighting. Enjoy!
Little overview of another crabby creature sketch, I think this process video does a nice job of showcasing my approach to distribution of volumes and distortion of anatomy in a way that "makes sense"
Been a bit quiet on here lately so here's a bit of an update from me.. I'm currently working on Fall Guys at Mediatonic... some of you may have seen this horrendous abomination that I was responsible for, it's not exactly reflective of the rest of the amazing artwork in the game, but it seemed to strike a chord with people because of the juxtaposition:
Some horrific beastie - the Chickipede/Centicluck... a hybrid between a chicken and a centipede. Ever wished you could get more drumsticks or hot wings from one bird? Be careful what you wish for...
Taking part in #sculptober this year... although not following the official prompts. The chickipede above was the first few days, now working on doing some more stuff with basic shapes and trying to get character across like that. Here's a magician:

Well done everyone!
Tudor one day I hope you write a biography, I would read it, keep it up with all your amazing stories
