Working into this design earlier. Big Cat Hybrid. Want to get the features nailed down (I guess the focal point is going to be the face), and then will try out lots of different fur textures (patterns from different big cats) and iterate to see what I like.
Iterating some elven armour designs. Layering things up. Looking forward to doing more of these and then lots of lovely turnarounds because I'm an absolute sucker for clean lines and clear breakdowns
WIP sketch this eve, I have a hard time rendering fur without photo textures, but I think it turned out ok. Not as dirty or battle damaged as I'd like yet, but will get there. Overlay of stripes is looking a little off, need to contour it more with the body. Stance also a little stiff.
FEESH. Potentially have an upcoming freelance gig that will require lots of fish to be drawn, so it's study time. Even if the brief changes, there's no loss cause knowledge. Feeshy feesh.
"The Donald" ...Sutherland. Not too keen on portraits, so I thought I'd give it a shot and push myself. Work in progress, though any CC welcome. Lots of values work to be done. Possibly some proportion changes.
Blocking out some basic shapes. Really rough atm, all placeholder subtools, and proportions have yet to be played with. Will probably create a set of spider/arachnid subtools that I can use to kitbash and make many iterations.
WIP render, got some texture in there and focussed in on the mouth parts. Spent friday evening sat in front of my computer researching arthropod mouthparts and feeding mechanisms, so have lots of new info for the visual library! Am blending with human anatomy here a bit (human skin on the render), so it's not at all a strict arachnid model.
Messing around with speed sculpting every evening, trying to crunch my skills up. Nothing fancy with the renders, it's more about structure and form for me at this point
"There's another dimension leak in bay 4 and another one of those mites has got through. I'd avoid it if I were you, all they seem to be interested in is your teeth. Keep your mouth closed"
"Some of them come through smiling, I suppose you would to if you had spent your whole life in a non-euclidean hell, surrounded by unfathomable things of incomprehensible horror. It's like getting into Disneyland for them"
"Sometimes the orbs just open and their probes come through. It's like they're copping an interdimensional feel" ...had a difficult time figuring out IMM settings to add suction cups, but got to familiarising myself with the curve functions.
ZBrush question - does anyone know how to set up the 'suction cups' so that they 'rotate snap' to the underlying tentacle? Or am I better off creating an IMM brush that has just a repeating section of the tentacle with the suction cups as well?
"Dimension Leak" figured out how to repeat suction cups and warp them accurately. Have this set up as an IMM brush if anyone would like to download it then shoot me a message and I'll send it through
"If you thought his head was ugly, wait till the rest of him crawls through" ...Putting tentacle brush I made yesterday to use. Sculpting every day this month is pushing me as I'm so happy with paper and a pencil. Good to get out of the comfort zone though.
"The orb sputtered onto our plane of existence, a cold vacuous atmosphere filled our hearts and we watched as horrific, blasphemous tendrils spewed out and breached it's surface, reaching from beyond" Made some more tentacles based on giant starfish
"We knew it's consciousness was merely an advanced set of silicon processors, and it's ability to feel emotion was not programmed into it, but we couldn't help but feel a little sorry for it, on account of the literal hell we were about to sent it into". Tried some #hardsurface for the first time, not as great as I'd like, but it's a starting point. Very different to working more organically. Tried to stay away from overcluttering the design with too many 'greebles' that seems to be all to prevalent in many designs these days
"Summon your negotiators and bring them unto me, I am here to barter for the sanity of every mind in your dimension. We are willing to be merciful... for a price"
"An abhorrent, ghostly visage emerged motionless from the orb. It was a cruel and twisted mimicry of humanity and stared at us with cold, predatory eyes, like those of a shark"
I just scrolled through your entire sketchbook thread with the biggest grin. Your stuff is seriously amazing and your creature designs are beautiful! I really enjoy these weird portal creatures you've been doing, their weird little written snippets are the best thing. Please keep up the fantastic work!

Thank you so much for that, it can be pretty tiresome to crunch on this stuff every single day, so words of encouragement really do mean a lot to me. I'll be posting something horrible in a bit!
"We stood, transfixed, as the visage split into two hemispheres and tore apart with a wet, sucking noise. From within the viscous centre, eight more eyes bubbled to the surface, cold and dead as the original ones and studied us from across the room. Pronged mandibles unfolded and began clicking in a sickening delight..."
"It's cold, pale, sagging body lifted from the orb with an unnatural grace. Fat wrinkled lips pursed, and then opened to reveal a distinct lack of succedaneous growths, instead just two mandibular stumps. Somehow this was worse we thought, as a fat string of saliva dribbled down."
Feel this sculpting every day has really helped me get waaaaaay more comfortable in 3D. Another week of these left to do before a full month
"As it stepped through the portal it spread horrible, wet leathery wings that unfolded with an unsettlingly fluid agility. It turned it's head to look at us and studied us greedily with it's black mirrored eyes. The air went cold, and the hairs on the back of our necks pricked up as it let out a low hissing noise"
Haven't posted on here in a bit, but have been busy working with @almighty_gir and @JLHGameArt on an upcoming project. Will be a bit more active now, but here is our Elf character beginnings...
