First time poster, long time CS fan. Would it be obnoxious to create a lot of entries? Is there a limit to where everyone would be like, "Please, stop"? I have a lot of unique ideas but I also don't want to seem like I'm stuffing the ballot lol.
First time making a skin for csgo. Is there any better texture maps out there ? The ones i find are really vague and hard to find the lines etc.
I'm afraid those are the only ones. But a few skins are more easier to understand, for example: The P90 and the AWP are relatively easy to understand, whereas the Deagle is insane xD
Hello, guys, I am new to this forum here. After I submit my works to Steam Workshop, how do I show that I am participating a contest in Polycount? And, how many works can be submitted? Thanks.

Unlimited works can be submitted and I think all you have to do, to make the people from Valve notice you is put PC-CSGO in your title.

Thanks for the info. So, I put up PC-CSGO in my submission for the Workshop and also in the submission of Polycount forum?
If anyone is interested; I have some really cool ideas for some weaponskins, only i lack the skills to do it. So please message me if you want to work together to create something special!

I submitted a design that fits into this theme and is a deagle skin but it was submitted on May 1st before a friend let me know about this competition. Is it still possible to enter as I retained screenshots from WIP for Steam Display use or no?
how to join the csgo finish making contest? it says something about updating your work here on polycount? can anyone help explain that part to me please? i really want to join this contest.
However, I still wonder how will you proceed to finalize your product. Do you remove the [WIP] tag then put [final] in?
I think they have to be separated. U keep 1 thread with your wip, and when you are done you post your final result here.
Nothing has to be posted here, Just post your skin in the workshop with the "PC-CSGO | YourSkinName" name tag, after you have done that copy the link of your polycount wip thread into the description of your skin. Valve will most likely sort the skins on the workshop based on the "PC-CSGO | YourSkinName" name tag, and they will check your thread by copying the link that u posted in the description.
This thread was only made to announce and discuss and ask questions about the contest I think.

It's not going to put me of entering this if it is but with this will polycount take a small portion of the revenue or will 100% go to the skin creator?
If a moderator could clean up the thread that would be nice, Guys stop posting your skins here, so far I have seen 0 skins that have a chance of getting in the game. Try to put some time and thought into your skins, only that way you will have a chance to win.
Influence, certainly. Copyright infringement, nope. The GTA series has done a great job of this, making game art that's influenced heavily by movies etc. without using the actual names or images. Cars look like various makes but are not exact copies, in-game logos have the same style as various real-world products but are their own designs, etc.

The contest began on May 2nd, and the following was in the rules: "You must submit new work for the contest, and not re-use assets you may have previously created."
It seems that any skin submitted to the workshop prior to the contest is exempt. Sorry man, hopefully you can find some inspiration for another submission!
I just wonder how you can make the skins? Where do i get the workbench?
Step 1: Get Photoshop/Illustrator/Gimp Step 2: Get VTFEdit Step 3: Get the UV Maps ( which can be found here: cdn-01-origin.steampowered.com/apps/csgo/workshop/workbench_materials.zip ) Step 4: Create your artwork using the UV maps. Step 5: Export/Save as .TGA Step 6: Open VTFEdit, import the .TGA file, then save it as a .VTF file. Step 7: Open CS:GO Step 8: Open the console and type: "workshop_workbench" Step 9: Choose your weapon finish: Patina, Gunsmith, and Custom Paint Job are all used for patterns that require exact alignment. The rest of the finishes are used for non-aligned textures (Think fade skins + camo patterns ) Step 10: On the top right, click "Choose Pattern" Step 11: Load your .VTF file in the dialog that opens. Step 12: (IMPORTANT!) Be sure to check the option "ignore_weapon_size_scale" Step 13: Change all the values on the left hand side to 0.0-0.0. Step 14: When everything looks good, click submit on the bottom right, name your skin... You're done!
It says top 2 will win is it top 2 on each skin category or is it top 2 overall? and is it the most voted one who wins or? Thank you.
There are 5 weapons to chose from to make skins for in total. After the deadline valve will chose 2 skins overall, also valve will judge the skins, so don't worry too much about the votes.
Can someone explain clearly what is the difference between Covert, Classified, Restricted and Mil-Spec?
thanks in advance
Covert = Highest tier, detail the gun a lot, I suggest using bright, vibrant colors Classified = Second highest tier, detail, use nice colors, just don't overdo it Restricted = quite wide range, you could go for a bright but also subtle design Mil-spec = Lowest tier gun, I suggest using tame colors, nothing too bright or satured, whilst keeping it quite detailed.

Dots and yellow looks very close to the MP9 Bulldozer.
A Note From the Moderators:
All submission links have been removed. This thread is for Q&A about the contest.
If you put links to your threads or your steam links here, they will be deleted. Repeated infractions may result in a ban.
Carry on!
Furthmore , since this is an 80s contest can we use influence from 80's movies or is that still copy rite ?
