Post needs approval? If you try to post but you see a message like "Your comment will appear after it is approved", this means your text has caught the attention of our Spam filter. Don't make multiple posts, they'll just keep getting blocked. Once a day or so, we process a list of posts needing approval, to ban spammers and to verify members. Social connect buttons in Profile are broken. You can now connect your Twitter account. And there's a Twitter button at the lower right of each post, for sharing Polycount posts in your Twitter feed.
Right-click in Reply field after using Quote. Fixed.
@ mentions are broken by line returns. Fixed.
New Topic in categories. Fixed. We removed breadcrumbs that led to empty parts of the forum where you could post, but no one would be able to read them.
Code paragraphs are badly formatted. (a fix is coming soon, currently being tested)
Some wishlist items in progress:
Less dead space in thread list view. This is coming along well, nearly ready to go live.
Less dead space in thread view. This is coming along OK, still some work to do.
This isn't necessarily a bug, but one of the links you guys reference are broken. I clicked it and it brought me into a very security-sketchy page that was breaking my browser.
I'm guessing that the WYCIWYG editor is under revision as well? By default the font-size is huge compared to result. EDIT ah bug 21 I'm guessing. Also, what about the notification posts for replies on posts you have replied on, will they be nested at some point, and just show how many replies there is, so you don't have 17 of the same notifications? Btw, did you change the font on the listing, as it seem to be Times New Roman, or something the like now.
AHA I see what the problem is @McGreed. If you're using HTTPS, this blocks the font from being downloaded. Is there a reason why you've forced Polycount to load in HTTPS mode?
Twitter button at the bottom right of each post now has the correct icon. It's not centered on the button, we'll fix this.
Edit Profile button added to your profile page. This is more of an update for moderators though, as it gives us a bunch of additional tools to moderate with.
Clicking on a Youtube or Vimeo won't cause the lightbox error anymore, it will just play.
Sketchfab plugin updated to latest version.
Sketchfab embed won't disappear when editing a post.
Adding a Sketchfab to an existing post won't make it appear down in the Reply field.
Found the solution for ranks not appearing in your posts. If you have an ad-blocking plugin, whitelist our domain, then log out of the forum and log back in. Your rank should appear then. You could un-whitelist us after this, but I'm not sure if your next promotion would appear or not.
Ok.... new guy here (been registered for like a week). I'm the kinda guy who constantly edits his posts because of typos and such (aims for perfection... SWIG AND A MISS), and in partaking in such activities, I've run in to a peculiar issue about 3x now.
For some unholy reason sometimes when you edit posts and hit 「Save Reply」, the edits aren't posted but instead it deletes all of the text in the text area that you are editing, and returns and empty text area for you to type into.
So as someone who practices the dark arts, I hit 「Ctrl + Z」and I get what I typed in my post back, but when you click 「Save Reply」again you get a little notification saying something along the lines of "Can not find comment to reply too", then when you refresh the page the entire post is gone. 。:゚(。ノω\。)゚・。。。
Oh please, gods of the forum can you please vanquish this demonic force, before more fall prey to its awesome terrible powers.
Don't see this in the list, but the image (lightbox?) viewer when you click on images is rather useless, because it doesn't show the image in its native resolution. So if you're looking at an image greater than your browser window resolution (like a tall image), the lightbox view is even smaller than it is within the original post!
I also hate that posts don't have a reference #. Can't link to a specific post easily now because of that. That would've been handy a paragraph ago.
Yeah lightbox doesnt work great with vertical images, thanks for reporting, will add this.
You can link to a thread directly, if you grab the url from the little timestamp immediately to the right of someone's rank. Not sure if that's what you meant tho.
Aha, yeah that's it. IIRC it used to be in the right-hand corner, #postnumber, which was also a URL. Personally I'd prefer that, the post/comment number to be visible, because then you can just say "check out post 12 by so and so"; linking via URL to the thread you're already seems a bit redundant/potentially confusing.
Not sure if this is the right place or not, but a lot of links to polycount threads in the wiki are 404 errors or missing. For example I was recently looking at UV tutorials in the wiki. Are they gone forever?
If you can point me to specific wiki pages, I can take a look.
But if it's an external link that's gone, it's probably permanent. The web is an impermanent medium. Digital archival of internet resources is a difficult problem to solve.
We try to save what we can, but we can't store it all.
Some things are caught by the Wayback Machine. You could try searching there.
Anyhow a tutorial on a subject like UVs gets dated very quickly, because the software keeps improving.

http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Texture_Coordinates is where I was browsing. Some of the old polycount threads linked below the "UV Tutorials" section heading are broken. I'd love to be able to read some of these topics. Eg:
Edited to add that I have read Earthquake's post about tutorials. I agree with him 100%. I was asking about discussions on polycount, which hopefully would have a lot of the why's embedded in them. Also, as a total noob, watching tutorials about how to do very basic things on very complex programs is the only way to move forward for me at this point. I'm not yet at the "why" I'm still learning to walk.
Links on that wiki page should be all fixed now. Images within external pages, or within old threads... that I cannot fix. Alas, entropy.
Re: the death of curiosity, the best way to learn is to get your hands dirty. Read one thing, then try replicating it yourself, and explore from there. If you don't understand a complex tool (simple truth, none of us do!) then dig into its reference manual, keep testing buttons to see what they do, keep readin about them in the help file, test some more, etc. This is what that thread is all about. The process of learning is painful, and it should be! You're exercising your brain!
Anyhow, off topic. Please let me know if anything else is broken.
Yep this occurs for me as well, Chrome/Android 6.0. But it defaults to half that scale, so the thread text fills the view, and I can scroll right if I want.
I couldn't find an easy fix for this in CSS. I would welcome any tips though.
I was writing in the input field without realising I'd been logged out, so the "Post Reply" button read as "Comment As..". That prompted me to login, then reloaded the thread I wanted to comment on. However, the text was not preserved, or was overwritten with an earlier draft made while logged in. Luckily I'd copied the text before signing in, but that should probably be fixed at some point if it wasn't a one-off.

The link is on this page - http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Game_Industry#Job_Searching
Scroll down to Job Searching. It's the link titled "cgStepInside Studio Map - map of animation and game development companies."
Removed.
Btw, did you change the font on the listing, as it seem to be Times New Roman, or something the like now.
I don't see this. I did change the thread list to use a different font, it is Open Sans, but it is used elsewhere on the site. Here's what I see:
EDIT: What do you see for styling if you right-click on the weird font, and choose Inspect ?

Woops, did not know multiple edits in a short time triggered the spam filters , and completely missed that new members page...
Sorry _:(´□`」 ∠):_
Also thanks for fixing things much obliged!

27. User Title is showing old rank titles in some users' Profiles, which looks like a duplicate rank. (fixed 8/10)
32. Missing icon for Sketchfab embed button at far right end of editing toolbar. (fixed 8/10)

Make sure you are copying the full page url from Sketchfab. Then click the Sketchfab button at the right end of the post toolbar. Then paste.
Scaling issues on mobile, perhaps due to ads?

thanks.
1. Can't type a reply in an existing private conversation. Taps in the reply field are ignored!
2. In a new message, the New Message button is cut off along the bottom.
I think these might have been caused by a recent CSS update.
I guess August 2012 was Spamageddon, the most recent one I saw was March 2014. Doesn't bother me one way or the other, just reporting the bug.
@m4dcow: Can you check if this change has removed those threads from your search results?
