@Gannon Thanks so much! I'm enjoying 3d, but definitely out of my comfort zone. I've been testing 3d scan data from sculpey, then bringing into zbrush. Still feels a bit rough, especially on the edge flow. Well, whatever. Here it is:
Thanks for the kind words! Hopefully I'll pick up Zbrush again soon. In the mean time, I am sprucing up some of the inktober sketches toward a larger series:
@Bedrock@ChrisFraser Glad you like it! Maybe Loaf will be the next 3d venture... not sure.. Just seems a little too simple for 3D, but it is a fine idea regardless.
So I've gone and lost my mind, submitting crudely painted 3d prints for gallery display. The short story is, I've gone back to school after 10 years, and am encouraging the college to update and bolster their 3d program. The tricky bit was to keep the paint jobs simple enough to avoid allusion to diorama or realism, while not getting into the realm of toys or nick-nack. I figured a 2 color simple application would make it more about form, gesture, and process rather than about the believability of the depictions.
I had a few more barn tanks to make this a big family, but the quality didn't hold up at smaller sizes, so I ditched the babies.
Brian is a depressed and self conscious tank. Built like a tank, but working a desk job. Poor Brian. I hope you break free, buddy.
I took my earliest tank design, gave it some love with styrene and went for a simplified color scheme of an evil and innocence comparison. Thematically, it's innocence lost + Madonna and child, except that mom is a warlord. You all know, that mother-bear stuff.
Alright... I think I'm nearing print of a first draft for this tank book. I'd like to do a bit of clean up on Tienanmen. I'll likely come back to some of the other sketches to finish... but I think it's time to get a prototype in hand. Would also love to get feedback with something tangible to pass around.
Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm getting back into more digital work, and tweaking my tools once again. I've been playing with some old brushes I had made to see what still feels right. I sketched these today or funzies:

Here's a brief clip of the scanning:
A few updates:
Got Barn Tank modeled and printed:
