Did a little process demo for a friend of mine. Same camel ref from a few years back. Kind of interesting to see how my approach/eye has changed since then. (the old one is here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/43eKq )
Those toon-tanks are especially gut bustingly funny, liking the prints too. In another life/job had worked with the real thing but much prefer your version/s
@sacboi Thanks! I'm developing the tanks into more of an overall brand. If you're interested, check out the development on https://www.instagram.com/fantastictanks/ I never worked on tanks, but built blackhawks in another life. Would love to pick your brain on the topic of tanks.

Sure! pick away
I'm ex-military which is what I meant by 'working with them as a job' I'd served during the 80s, mostly Armored Recon (M113 MRV) but was initially slotted too train on the heavies (Leopard AS1 MBT) but switched over to Cavalry (2nd CAV Regt - Australian Army) also worked alongside airborne assets equipped with Blackhawks...we loved those birds
@sacboi I'm currently working on getting some decal sheets together for the miniatures. Right now, mainly general stuff. Vehicle identifiers, "No Step" , stuff like that. Of course, I'd like to take a humorous angle on some of these. Do you recall the types of stenciled markings you'd see on the vehicles?

I went to the dutch military museum couple of months ago and took some reference focusing on decals for use in textures. I can share them with you if you want. stuff like this

Other than tactical markings, as the following image of an M113 MRV (Scorpian Turret) portrays, in fact a vehicle that was actually issued ordnance at the time I'd served which is now on permanent static display in one of our principle garrison towns, here in AUS:
- 2 [B Squadron]
- 1 [1 Troop]
- Triangular Symbol denotes Arm or Corp, in this case Armored Reconnaissance
- B [Callsign Bravo, typically Troop Sergeant's vehicle]
Were usually stenciled both sides and rear plus each callsign had a 'nickname' stenciled on the upper frontal lefthand side hull next too the drivers compartment and I think "BIHN BA" seen on this example recounts a battle Australian forces were involved during the Vietnam War so to add many if not all of the unit's tracked vehicles were Vietnam era vintage likewise most senior NCOs and Officers of the Regiment were also veterans, who'd still serving throughout my 2nd Cavalry Regt enlistment between 1984 - 5 and 1988 - 90, respectively.
Side Note: WW2 vehicle signs/markings especially those applied by the servicemen themselves is another resource for further ideas. I've an extensive library of Osprey military published issues so I'll offer to followup on that, if you like?
@mook that's awesome! thanks for the reference image, and I am flattered by the drawings.
@sacboi Thanks for the info! This is useful for sure, and I'm definitely interested in the Osprey issues that cover that topic. We're still chugging along with the decals, and will continue to refine them I'm sure.
Here's a new tank from tonight's painting livestream.
Searching through my personal Osprey collection, sadly found no material related too 'tank hull art' however further research online turned up a couple results that maybe useful:
To my mind they're reminiscent of WW2 aircraft nose art plus I guess these salaciously derivative pieces were more prevalent in South East Asia theaters due to topographical and/or operational conditions.

that's crazy neat, is this some sort of AI learning business?

I just did a cursory write-up (with lots of pictures) on ArtStation discussing what I'm thinking and learning through weekly sessions.
