Badger182 - I think you detail the silhouette nicely but the lighting needs some work, the volumes are not well defined because the light source is not obvious enough, I've made to make a quick paintover for you to show what I mean. https://www.dropbox.com/s/r6skibgjbsle2g2/paintoverBadger182.psd?dl=0

Thank you so much for pointing that out, I will make some amendments.
Todays picture... Still playing with how the silhouettes of my pictures look befor I start coloring and detailing, I am also still trying to understand lighting. Would love feedback as usual
First time posting on the 2d section (I used to hangout in the 3d section). Been mia from CG for a bit, but I was able to work on a simple casual game for android using libgdx. So, without further ado, the shameless plug as my first post here:
Gungriffon Geona: I really like the mood of that piece!
Andrew Productions: Cool character, though I'd work on defining some areas a little more. The face in particular has an interesting shape but is quite difficult to read.
Started working on a landscape, trying to keep it a bit loose and almost impressionistic (well, sorta). Not sure about the composition though, thinking of moving the castle a bit closer to the middle..
edit: Finished now! It ended up being quite detailed but what the heck, it was fun to do. Castles are quite relaxing to paint actually
Nice work guys! Really fun shapes you're pulling Kaktuzlime!
So I'm thinking of doing a 2d isometric environment of sorts, it's pretty fast and fun but I'm still getting used to layering sprites to make it look 3d.
First experiment:
And the second:
All based off of 5 sprites:
This is really fun to do in Unity, everything above was quickly lined up and rendered in engine, even the little stick man from the second image. I'll probably line up something more complicated and polished in the next few days as a side project.
@Andrew F Productions: Maybe better if you lit them from above, so you can show some more form in them? The colored one is quite flat right now.
@Avanthera: I think the first versions of the rocks are too dull. Those can use a bit more contrast in it I guess. Like you did in the second try. Love those
@mariomanzanares: I'm not really good at figures myself but I think her head is a bit too small? I also have the feeling there is happening a lot in this image, makin git hard to read at first. I'm talking about the flowers, brush, coins all ending up on a border of the frame. Maybe extend the frame a bit to the right to fix that?
Anyway, love the colors .
I've been working on this image for a couple of days now, mainly after work. Would love it to get some feedback on it so I can finish it to a portfolio piece.
I tried to make this image as realistic as possible. A la The Last of Us, The Division etc. I'm still not happy about the water and backdrop but kind of like the right foreground part. Everything is a combination of photos and painting
Avanthera: These are looking amazing! Are you working with the 2D game layout for them or the 3D in Unity?
Mariomanzanares:I will make sure to dance today in light of this holiday I didn't know about haha The motion in this piece is great, though I would add more to the area where the butt smack is happening, I didn't even notice it till I looked at the picture for awhile and I feel like it should be a point of interest that draws the eyes in. perhaps more red?
Taking advice from some people on here, I reworked my one piece. Here is the reimagined result.
Lyno; Thanks! Your concept is def. looking like something Maciej Kuciara would make, so that's the right direction I suppose.
Andrew; Thanks for the kind words! The pieces are all sprites laid out in 3d, but placed with the 2d mode using this toolset: https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/27851
Makes things super easy to place and adjust so you don't have to worry too much about sorting and such.
Seework; Really nice job!
Highelf; I like the style and proportions of your guy, but he's very plain atm. Would be cool to see some more personal effects as he looks more like a mannequin than a character.
Something I was working on to just practice my rendering a bit:
About your work, perhaps need more contrast and make some occlusion shadows to integrate better the carriage with the ground, I think, hope to help you.
Hello everybody! Awesome work going around :O I used to be kinda active on the dota2 subforum but I don't have the time to put into making items anymore, so I stopped coming to polycount altogether, which seems silly, since there's a ton of other great communities here! So lo and behold, I'm gonna try to be more active around these parts. Hope to see y'all around.
But of course, I wouldnt just leave you empty handed, so here's what I'm working on (as per the name of the thread)
Some rough designs for characters from a school project. It's a high fantasy inuit setting, with magic and spirits (or anirniit, as they are known within the culture). Hoping to improve upon these and have some environment concepts to show soon!
kaktuzlime, super-cool as always. The great thing about Faun picture is that she looks detailed without loosing readability. Daven, I really like her. Love the face. Catell-Ruz, nice colors and rendering looks very clear. I like it.
Already uploaded her here.
Had time to fix some stuff and clear the picture a little bit.
Hawdee do ya doo! A lots of great pics above. Like a lot. A couple of months ago I discovered for myself the potential of drawing with a tablet, and digital drawing in general. It is magic. This is my skill for now. I wish I had more time to draw now.
Hey guys, you're friendly neighbourhood deadpool :poly121:- I mean Jason, cause I am most certainly not deadpool? No? I am?! Well uh... at least I'm not Agent X. :poly117: (I know, I know, GET OUT.) Well I'll leave now-
Great first impression huh? Um, I'm new here, because this is a new account cause I lost my old username and password.
Anywho, I don't know if people like games anymore, because it's a dying genre, I think the last game was pong right? I can't remember anything in my declining days... I mean-
Well, since I've drawn out a second introduction... not that it was necessary, I've decided to try my hand at making a game in RPG Maker 2003.
Here are some screenies... I know... I know.:thumbdown:
When you reply to me, please boo as hard as you can.
Sincerely,
Jason Longia
(P.S. I can't believe I used such a corny letter, it practically has
corns in my letter.) :poly117:
The project I am working on is a turned based strategy game called Wills and Wonders. Here is some animated sprites from my game, let me know what you guys think.
The Troll, Cyclops, and Giant, facing the right direction; basic attack and using the smash ability.
The Warg transforming into the Hellhound and howling, then into the Cerberus to give you a dramatic stare.
Replies
Agaki: okay you sould me with the horns haha it came out great, the texture in the fur is my favorite part but I really like the armor, is it glass?
Im really trying to level up my colors and environments, any thoughts on where i'm going wrong?

Here is Super Grav Bot.

edit:fixed some stuff in the picture.
Get it from the Play Store if you have 60 seconds to spare!
It's not exactly new since it was released late December last year, but since I'm posting again on PC, decided to post this on the 2d section anyway.

Dado Almedia: Wow the posing and colors look great, wonder what that character is up to, perhaps some mischief?
Working on some concepts at the moment, most are rough, in fact only one is rendered. Tomorrow i'm going to bring the other 5 up to snuff.
