@blasto- nice, love me some hearthstone! @vguerra- Cant wait to see it finished, details are looking great. @skylebones- sweet cartoony viking! there might be some places where the shadows are suggesting a straight top down light source versus on what you have of a top left light source that you have through out most of the piece. @Yelrah- environments are hard man, my weak point personally. My only suggestion is to do some more studies from either outside or thru photos of real world places, along with a dosage of perspective of course.
@ elsewhere- cute little bugger you got there. @Stinger88- nice mech designing man! @kaktuzlime- Dude, I had the privilege to see some Zorn paintings last year. His watercolors are what really blew me away. Solid collab btw! @Gnashed- reads stormtrooper to me! nice work man! @Highelf- Ah! I recognize this piece from fb, nice to see it here! Hopefully you'll get that atmospheric stuff you wanted worked out. Can't wait to see it finished. @Jamesy- nice design sheet dude! @acapulco- amazing stuff! @Xeik- nice creature design, coloring it soon? @Lorex- sweet alla prima's! I like the color decisions you made for both of those.
Though something feels strange about the way the face is 100% frontal and symmetrical while body isn't.
Did you perhaps start with a face and add the body later?
Here are some new concepts from me. This is just a few examples of the planes I designed for a client. Its based of the F-22 and meant to be an upgraded version.
kaktuzlime: Looking awesome! you can really feel the intensity of the sunlight.
stinger88: mechs really cool!
elsewhere: hehe cute.
Yelrah: Nice using 3d models as underlays. Have you tried rendering them before painting? I usually do a like physical sun & sky rendering to get me started.
skylebones: VIKINGS!
vguerra: super rad!
blasto0341: Cool, really love that kind off stuff! Think I'm gonna try doing some mock card game stuff.
nilknarf815: mmmmmmm
twoflower: The green one looks really cozy.
grace: love the style of the first designs, very anime-ish
muzz: thanks man!
Did this painting for the brainstorm group, still exploring the 3d & photo workflow. This time I referenced Craig Mullins heavily and maaaaan is he a modern master or what, really gained a new level of appreciation of his paintings.
Lets give this a go
I'm currently trying to get into digital artwork as it's pretty much going to be the main aspect of the job i'd like to get (Concept artist) so feedback would be really helpful
I don't have a colouring style for digital either, so it's abit difficult to make something of my own with no digital skills or style aha.
Trying to create something unique, and as you're all so talented i'd be really grateful for any advice/critique.
@Allan-p , kaktuzlime - character shapes are great @nilknarf815 - loving your trad oils @Twoflower - Colours + shapes, watch out for tangents @Graze - the graphicness is sublime @MrsNommingtons - more bacon please! @Vguerra detail on face is good, but please paint in that bg haha, unless you plan on keeping it white.
This took forever, still trying to figure out working with 3D -____-
Will start props next. 1 month in and already so much to do.
So I stumbled across this on my hard drive today, It's an old design I started ages ago but sadly never did more with. It was a creature inspired by ballet. I wanted to capture the essence of ballet in this design.

Wow the colors are so nice, and everything is so super smooth how did you achieve this ? is this a paintover 3d ?
Hope you don't mind some crits as it's an old design, otherwise just disregard this.
1. The legs of an animal orientation are usually opposite forward to backward.
2. The whole shoulder/pelvis area rotate and also usually opposite to each other.
3. All legs wouldn't be on the ground at the same time unless standing.
Here maybe this paintover will explain it better, cheers
@Rav3 - Whooa, super-polished! Keep going man! Totally in the essence/vein of warcraft! @Stinger88 - Sweet render, that's really creepy! @Chai - I like the shapes, and your muted color-scheme, it works well!
@ Allan-P - Beautiful shapes!! I like this style, I'd love to see more in this vein.
@ Elsewhere- Sweet depth and moody lighting!
@ Graze - Really graceful man, I think you did well in capturing the ballerina essence.
@ !drawstuff - Why don't you check out Shaddy Safadi's landscape-painting-tutorials? I think that would help you heaps! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0SSy7vUJ6ExSzVbhaliZ6S8242dJtKDm
@ Hofsta -Looking cool man! I feel the clouds are a bit too solid, perhaps soften them up a bit and work on the edges could help? I also feel you could simplify the cloth a bit, I feel you've got too many noisy little folds.
@ Mossed Neuron - She's cute, love the face! I feel you should really look into her anatomy, you placed her boobs way too low, and her entire ribcage-area is really distorted. And comeon, don't be so sloppy with her hands!
@ Ocarian - That's so cute!!! Cool expression-sheet!
Jeez! Everybody is pumping out some excellent work. I usually work on 3D character art but I have decided to start practicing some digital painting in Photoshop. I am a big fan of Law and Order SVU so I decided to paint Odafin Tutuola Aka Finn who is played by Ice-T. C&C is welcomed.

And the photo-bashing part is to horrible to show
Slowly working out of my comfort zone, from 1h top to staggering 6h bottom.

Photostudy I just finished. Should have kept it quicker and looser. Oh well.
nilknarf815: Thank you! Sweet oil painting, I like the efficiency of your brush strokes!
Everybody else is doing great work too! Keep it up!
My latest, a forest troll, very much Paul Bonner inspired.
hope you like it ^^
