I did this twin, nighttime version of a painting I did a few months ago. I think they need some adjustments to work better together still :P
The Day looks great, but the Night, I'm not sold on.
With such a large Hunter's moon behind the house the front would not have all that ambient on the walls. Nor would there be any real bounce since the light would be bouncing away from the house.
Most of the from of the house would be in shadow. The Shadows would be quite strong and obvious. With only the lights of the windows providing light and perhaps an atmospheric light adjustment for looking at the house in distance.
Personally I feel the moon is hurting the silhouette of the house. If it were the lighting source from the upper left and off screen, I believe you could get the end result you were looking for.
Hello Everyone and Happy New Years! This is my first post in Polycount I did this really good course on Digital Tutors, called Elemental Creature by Brad Groatman. His is way better than mine of course, but I was just happy to finish it all the way! So I posted it here. Please feel free to leave any comments. Thank You!

Hey Sambo, I missed this with all the stuff thats been posted. Turned out great!
Not art per se, but I finally worked out a good workflow for rendering out the smooth mesh preview wires in Maya, in good high quality. It's been bothering me for months.

Decided to push my banker goblin to a final bust. Here's a refined version of the head, I'll start working on the hair this week.
And here's a quick paint over of a character I'll start working on after the Goblin bust is done. He's some kind of fantasy middle-east rider who will have a Camel-Hybrid creature mount and a vampire monkey pet (!)
Like I said on facebook : 2014, aka, the year when I kick my laziness in the balls.
@Maks; The ears need the most work. Get some reference. It will make all the difference, you can often judge a character solely on how good or bad their ears are. Most juniors will ignore them, while senior artists know to pay alot of attention to them.
The nostril scale & rim could use abit of a touch up otherwise looking good.
Well, quite frankly it's ridiculously easy. You can do this in Maya using the Vector renderer, but I never really got any results I liked, and the workflow is slow. Turns out there is a plugin called Contours made by ticket01. You can control the smoothness of the wires by increasing the Preview Division Levels of the mesh. I simply rendered two images, one of the mesh and one of the wires (which is black and white). Then I screened it Photoshop.

Wow! Great work on the goblin head, but I gotta say I'm really blown away by what you've got so far on your next character. Great style. I love it.
