Messin' around with Cryengine. Trying to do some FX work, never really done much before. This is so hacky! Faking the atmospheric haze with 2 different coloured fog volumes. I'd quite like to be able to adjust the night sky settings to get a better star skybox going on, but I have no idea how in Cryengine!
Has scrolling UVs for the planet rotation, and also a separate layer for the clouds. This has been a fun little test!
Bill eyes are not in the retarded position, i mean that in the nicest way possible.
I see that image below is that a paint over of what you must do?
Will critic anyway, hopefully you don't mind, head is tilted more towards the left side of the screen, jaw seems dislocated and from the head down seems way bigger.
Really cool otherwise.
Davision3D one of piece of land pops up is that normal in the gif?
Wah Swizzle that is sooo cute! =D And to the rest of you I salute you all for your awesome stuff that keeps filling my inspirational folder!
As for me I have been working on a horse(that sadly does not get the attention it deserves). And I am now done with my Highpoly. I am now working on my lowpoly and mahbakes, but its going all to hell. So if someone here got an expertise on normal map baking, please help me over here! Thanks alot in advance and keep it up people.
@rocketbrian: Ahh that looks so cool! lowpoly and telltale/borderlands style works really nicely together. Also loving the presentation on it.
@swizzle: thats just about the cutest gazelle Ive ever seen. Is the fur on the back of it's legs planes?
heres some WIPs of my stuff. feedback's appreciated (Im thinkin of changing one of their poses since they're similar. the characters aren't related in any way) original concept of the guy was by Jeremy Vitry.

Yup, lots of overlapping planes. I arranged them so that they don't intersect the model underneath and instead just lay over the top and curve outward. It stops the hair planes from cutting sharply into the model and looking like cardboard cutouts.
@ Rocket Brian : That is ACE! I really dig the style.
Well this is what I am thinking of for my Main Beauty Shot for the Comicon entry. I am pretty disappointed in my efforts to be honest. I just don't feel like I pushed the brief or myself far enough. oh well there is always next time. but I still gotta finish off this rubbish with breakdowns and stuff.
PogoP: I love that still, smoke and mirrors trickery or not! I've always loved more understated space environments ever since I played the Homeworld series. Very nice render.
duncan: Thanks mate, and that Fat-Hulk is pure blubbery-win! I love the remixed concept. HULK WANT DONUT!!!
Did this for an arttest. Well, actually this is the revisited version, gonna' send it again and hope they answer this time. @edit: forgot to mention, I did the house only, the environment is the forest level from CE3.
This is by far the most convincing fur texture I have EVER seen on a game-rez character. Please share your technique!
Thanks! There really isn't much to share. I just painted some base colors using polypaint and baked them down using xNormal, and then smudged around the edges in Photoshop so it looked like bits of fur overlapping. After that, I overlayed a few photo textures of fur to get some color variation in the albedo.
There's some specular and gloss in there, but they're just sourced from the albedo.
I did use anisotropic specular in Marmoset 2 so I could get the highlights to look like it's actually furry, so I guess that helps.

I'm loving this concept Davidson. Do you have a main thread to chart your progress?

So much nice work here
@TunaSandwich: I really like her face, it fits well with the fox-like ears. Are you going to do a full character?
Now I'm all out of guns.. time to make more!
oh hell. Agreed! That is very well done.
I've personally witnessed all the hard work that has gone into this. Great job so far! She looks great!
Cheers~
