I feel like the cloth folds around his ears looks a little unnatural. And it doesn't look like there's anything holding the bottom half of the hood up that high. It just looks to me like it would fall and bunch up around his neck and under his jaw.
I really like the necklace design and execution though. You might need to tweak the scale just a bit to make it readable in game.
@mihalceanu -- I love the asymmetry around the neck, but I'm not sure it's adding a lot in the other places. I think of Silencer as one of the more neat and clean heroes, and it kinda feels like he's a little kid who didn't know how to put his dad's uniform on right. If that makes any sense

I agree re the shadow shaman hood, and the silencer hood.
For the shadow shaman hood maybe you could try having that lower "mouth piece" hang loose at the front? So it kinda mimics a loose lower lip of sorts.
As for the silencer hood I liked the asymmetry too, but I think having it hang over his eyes is what's causing it to look like a bit of a mess. If you don't mind me messing around with your concept a little bit, can I suggest this?
Alternatively you could have it cover both his eyes instead of just his right and let it rest above his nose.
Now for my lazy WIP , here is an image of my soon-to-be bounty hunter shuriken. I need some much appreciated feedback on it so i can get a general public opinion.
Some progress on the hood for Shadow Shaman. I am having this weird issue where I want to do some stitches down the middle of the hood but it is making 2 lots of stitches that overlap. It is confusing because with symmetry turned on, it snaps to the centre so you would think it would only make 1 set. Does anyone know how to solve this? Also PLEASE give me soem feedback on this design! :
Think of how symmetry works. It's a mirror. It sounds like your making a stroke across the point of symmetry back and forth which is at the middle of the stitch. Picture that single stitch and then picture it mirrored over the point of symmetry which is the middle of the stitch and it makes an X. With symmetry on you can't have a single stitch going across the middle like that. It'd be a V.
Or I'm a dingus and looking closer at the pic you meant the sloppy overlap of two X,s. looks like it wasn't perfectly centered when you projected the x down so it mirrored the offset X on both sides. I'd just use clay buildup or something and carefully paint a stroke across a few times over itself.
My current progress on the hood/necklace. I think I need to do something with the top part to make it stand out more but I'm not sure what to do =/
good color matching! with the stiches it works towards the right direction, its still a bit plain, but thats progress, keep going, i wanna see how this finishes..
I was thinking of adding a logo or something to the top/side. Maybe just the Dota logo, or "Whale Ale", something like that. Does anyone know what the deal is with Logos or text regarding what is allowed?
Hey guys!!
sorry for not posting this month, i hope you guys are not mad at me.
Just got back from the international and started looking for a place to rent.
i still need to read all the entries and i will start updating the front pages ASAP
This is my third Dota item, first time I've summoned the courage to post on here. Still having trouble balancing the amount of detail/rest on blades (pretty much went for all out rest here, couldn't get any noticeable detail to look nice in-game) and working with the low res for textures, but definitely coming along compared to my previous items.
Bit late to the game this month but i've been meaning to make some DOTA stuff for a while. This is my first time so advice is 100% welcome. I'm going to make a weapon for Phantom lancer because he's cool. He has a lot of amazing weapons already but the main aim of this exersize is for me to get familiar with the workshop. That being said crit away!
Small questions, when I uploaded I didn't choose a marketing PSD, is this supposed to be a different image from that square one? Like an "action pose" that they could use on the front page banner?
Also I read that it needs to have no edge treatment, on my item pic I have a frosty vignette, is that ok for the small pic? or should I remove it and replace with just a simple edge border like most other items?
Hey, a little late to the party but August has been a busy month.
Whipped this up on sunday, we'll see if i can finish by the end of the month, it's a bow for Drow.
Here's the concept and the progress on the high res mesh:
Some really nice stuff so far this month, especially that chen mount by OniLolz and Zaphk.
@Gamer_Alien The shape of the weapon is nice but I would reduce the amount of fine detail on the hilt (black dots, small cracks, etc. It's too small to be seen in game and if anything will just make the texture appear noisy at the distance the items are viewed at.
The level of work in this thread is so amazing :O I did some bakin' (and sculpting) lots to clean up though Worried it might look a bit too like the blade's going to break off though
Hey guys! just to let you know, i started updating the thread but i need to leave the libraryin 10 minutes. I didnt have much time to check if everyone is inside the rules, If someone see anything that breaks them like not posting the wip just send me a msg!

marketing PSD is a different thing than the square picture for the workshop. Check the sliding pictures at http://www.dota2.com/store/. For more info on the marketing art slide to the bottom of this page: http://www.dota2.com/workshop/requirements
