Great job Hawt! I think you could tone down the self-illumination on the staff a little bit, it runs in danger of having the forms blur together. Love the Tusk horns!
set_name - name of your set, use equal as on the workshop workshop_user_link - your workshop page, so people can browse your other items easily Username - the name you think its easier to people find you, can be the one from polycount or the steam item_link - the workshop page of your item thumbnail_img - the image link of the thumbnail that is INSIDE your item page on the workshop
@mihalceanu
Great blockout, the shapes should be really easily readable. The buttons on the front might blur into one though, so maybe just go full on gold for them.
Does anyone know Valve's stand on covering a hero's face that isn't usually covered by default (like adding a mask, veil, kerchief etc)?
I'm working on a Medusa headpiece, and she has a tattered default veil... If I wanted to cover or partially cover her face, is that a no-no?
I've seen it done well and accepted, but I think that unless it suits the character it's generally discouraged. I don't know much about medusa, so i couldn't say if it's appropriate there or not.
Well, that's somewhat relieving
As long as I fit the lore (I do, I think) and do it well (I will, I hope)... it will be accepted (reverendK said so - lalalala *fingers in ears*).
I love it! It could probably use a little more saturation though, especially on the blues.
Agreed! Maybe you could go a bit stronger on the top to bottom gradient and you definitely need some more AO where the gold parts overlay the other parts on the shoulder and belt. Really nice texture work on the wings!

General rule of thumb: Don't add anything that covers or hides the face unless it's adding more personality to the character than it's taking away
So I saturated the color, added some more shadow gradients to pop the shoulders and the hood some more , added some ao on the shoulderpads , and made a staff/spear for him .
I will probably make another staff for him using a concept/sketch that doubleleaf did for me .
Those wings really remind me of Darksiders, which is a good thing.
There's one thing disturbing me though, in the white feather armor, there seem to be some straight lines made with a lighter colour that makes it look bad.
That is looking damn awesome mihalceanu - the only thing which looks off to me is the blue parts but I think that won't be a problem once they're given mask layers.
First off @mihalceanu: That is so cool. That only part I'm not totally in love with is the hood/helmet, but even that I'm mostly in love with
Here's the latest on my Skywrath Staff. I thought I'd post it and hopefully get some last minute feedback before I submit.
I have my own list of things (scale, rework self illum, add AO to head of staff, masks aren't final, etc), but if anything jumps out at anybody please, please, let me know.
@mihalceanu: Wow that is looking really great, maybe make the cloth a little darker?
Well I think I almost finished the Skywrath staff, didn't had much time lately..
what do you guys think? Btw it seems Valve updated the materials on skywrath, because the blue light it's emitting is a lot stronger now.
update: after wasting some hours, I finnaly found out that when you import the fbx , you gotta uncheck "automatic unit setup" and put it to " centimeters" , and when you export the .fbx , you should put "metters" .
This is how it all looks,I'm preety satisfied with it ; maybe I will darken the shaft of the staff and add some more details on the cristal.
I will make the "beauty shot" tomorow and I will upload it
Next , I will make another staff with the concept that doubleleaf provided and I think ill try to make some bows for medussa ; I've got couple few ideas .
I've started my sculpt of the hood today. This is my first time doing cloth so I was hoping people may have some C&C as where to improve on it or some recommendations for videos to watch that might help?
Besides looking at tons of clothing reference (look up LARP or Faire costumes perhaps), here is a nice reference for drawing (or sculpting in your case) folds in fabric: http://www.mightyartdemos.com/mightyartdemos-bradley.html

I've taken a break from failing at animation to work on a set for Medusa. I wanted to give her a slightly more armoured look than her default outfit. I'm not so sure about the headpiece, her hair snakes are really difficult to design around.
Looks good. Don't be afraid to use some sharp edges and flat surfaces on the cloth, it seems counter intuitive for something that you'd typically expect to be soft, but it'll help to break up the surface so that the folds will read better.
Thanks for the feedback, guys. I agree with you about the eye but I'm torn. I'll play around with it when I start sculpting and see what it looks like in 3D.

Keep in mind her two large snakes stay a fairly large distance above her head. Her default headpiece is pretty tall. Agree about the side snakes though... but they also don't move much near their base. You could form the helm around the base of those snakes and not have intersections.

The Tusk tusks are also good but I don't know if they can stand alone, I feel like a set surrounding them would do them well.
Finished the Armour (I think) today! Tomorrow staff and wings
I'm totally getting a Dishonored vibe because of the cravat ^^
Very fresh design. Can't wait for the textures.
guys, can someone help me test if the code for the first post works?
just copy this and replace with the correct info
SET NAME by USERNAME
or this one for 2 creators
SET NAME by USERNAME and USERNAME_2

Yep, buttons need to be fully gold imo too, just with some value variation.
Started to block out a basic shape for a staff, will get cracking with the detail & colour next.
Update : I'm 80-90% done on the textures imo ( no shadres in prints) . and would love getting some feedback .
I just noticed that I dont have a weapon for it , so probably tomorow I will try to sketch a weapon for it to fit this set's style .
I'm gonna try to not fall in the "adding wings to staff" bucket , I was thinking maybe on some sort of angel spear thingy.

More update on Skywrath Mage set, it's been very fun to work on it
Now, staff!

Vikk0, dominating wing design! I like
And now for mah wing show off!
Maybe you could make a test with it a bit smaller?
Also, had an idea for a headpiece for Tusk. May be posting soon.

A crit I can give is that it can use some transitional detail between the spearhead/shaft, it would get awesomer

Here is a sneak peak of what I'm working on for Medusa...
Fantastic idea man, love how you incorporated the snake aspect.
Trying to make some mammoth tusks, need input on the colors and the amount of detail. If everything works right, I may do a full mammoth themed set!
Well I think I almost finished the Skywrath staff, didn't had much time lately..

We started a new set for her:
Alternate bow idea I had - Winged Serpent (Quetzalcoatl Bow?):
I'm just about ready to head into the high-poly sculpt for my Medusa set.
I'll post some shots soon.
Cheers.
Edit: more up to date screenshot
tnx

man i hate rigging
Dude I know that feel. Every time too. It's like YAY RIGGGING!
WTF SHOULDERS!?
Ye. Rigging is generally the part where people lose some weight in hair.

The pteruges are really fitting for her as a hero that has inspiration in a Greek myth
