heres a start on my death unmasked, Im still fighting for shapes that I like, a good nights sleep and fresh eyes will help I think haha. Ive tried to push the skull proportions but it still needs a bit more work to fit the voice me thinks. bit generic at the moment
Ive added some more artists to the Vigils theme posts if people want to check out some more artwork from the studio
Damn this thread and it's awesomeness:D
All the Ghibli is stellar, nice work folks!
Crazyfool: Love the sketch, have you seen any of Edvin Biukovic's stuff? Not sure what he's up to these days but he did some Grendel comics in the late 90's that is totally in that vein. Hope you can bring a bit more of that style into the sculpt. Sojumekju: Nice Lemonface dude;) 3sm: Awesome:) TeriyakiStyle: Awesome idea dude, can't wait to see where it ends up. - unless you stick with the newer version in which case, dammmmmmmmmmmn:) chaosblade: Nice man, maybe shrpen up the creases/details a bit. WarrenM: Nice, butit looks better wiouth the ps stuffs. Ravenslayer: Awwwwwww yeah:D Zwebbie: I'm gonna wait to see what you come up with but, if you don't like Vigil's style couldn't you have just sat this week out? SveinY: you bastard;) ocarian: Awesome sketches man, almost like the Avatar version of DS. Slave_zero: Very cool dude. firestarter: The texture work feels a little busy for DS but overall Nice:) Caldria: Interesting... very interesting:)
Going for something like the Blademaster from DS2, and since I've got a week or so without work Imma try for a full figure.
@ocarian, really cool sketches, looks somehow like disney meets darksiders, which would totally be awesome.
@caldria, finish this model! looks amazing so far.
@crazyfool, if we ever got to see death under the mask I'm positive he would look like that. Amazing interpolation/interpretation.
@scudz, excellent start, cant wait to see the finished result
Needed another break from my school work to try my hand a Joe Mad concept. Still trying to study and get the Darksiders style. I discovered the TrimDynamic brush helps a lot to get the look, still not quite polished enough though.
I was so sad to hear the news about Vigil. The create a weapon Contest helped me as a 3D artist so much and I want to thank Brian "Bobo the Seal" Jones for the Live stream and all his support during the contest This is my DS inspired demon head.
Cheers Phil it's just standard modelling haha, I modelled one strand super simple and then just duplicated it and pulled it around, then I mirrored it all and added some asymmetry.
I did think of spline/curving it but This is easier haha and I have alot more control over it
Baj,firestarter: Awesome, love the colors
Scudz,Dan,Daven,SveinY,Crazy,Ocarian,Teriyaki,slave_zero: awesome work guys
Skyerzz,Sojumekju: cool, mayby try pushing the silhouette a bit more though
alternative design of the crow father, from a sketch on paul richards' blog. I want to take it to a low poly/texture by the end of the week but I doubt they'll happen.
I wanted to break it up this week. I tried to take the least Darksiders thing on the planet and make it the most Darksiders thing on the planet. I had a blast and think it turned out decently. It's 2,934 polys and 1x1024 map. I'm calling it Death's Throne and yes it's a toilet.
Jeff that's brilliant and awesome. what's inside the bowl?
Here's my WIP, didn't really know what i was doing with it, but i've decided it's going to be like a crest thingy. I kinda threw in the a-symmetry in the eyebrows quickly, still playing with it.
Ravenslayer: He's coming along great!
Caldria: Awesome! Would love to see someone do Strife as well.
mat: SWEET looks just like the ones in game!
Jeff: Haha! Look's like Death has corruption coming out the back end.
daphz: Looks like we're on the same page with Crowfather stuff.
Here's mine, based off a preliminary sketch by the awesome Paul Richards
Also threw this guy in p3d if you want to take a tumble: http://p3d.in/3vJ6I
So most of this is still pretty rough but here's the general direction for this guy. Kneecaps and boots are gonna go completely and need to add an oversized shoulder-pad.

I recorded it, but when I was rendering I ended up tweaking some things :P (proportional changes)only spent 10 min tweaking though http://youtu.be/wJDZNnCCixU
afisher: tnx man ^^
mat, daphz,Organized Chaos: Love it, really cool sculpts
Sukutto: tnx, really cool take on the character
Scudz: nice feel already, maybe harden some of the edges on the body though, and watch out with dem purplez :P
Jeff: Hahaha awesome
Heres my final one for this week based on a sketch by paul richards
Ravenslayer: Thanks:) You'r turned out great, could maybe use a bit more contrast in the polypaint, but excellent sculpt. Caldria: That's some killer hair, nice job so far. D4V1DC: Nice start. Avanthera: That's adorable, love the expression:)
Unsurprisingly, lots of cool stuff so far. I'm working on this hell growth piece from a Paul Richards concept. I always liked the hell growth in both games. Still have a little ways to go before I can do some polypainting (a couple things I see right now that look like shit, I know), but I thought I'd go ahead and put something up.

Late to the game but managed to get this done.
Started a bust of Fury from Darksiders.. Long ways to go still - especially the hair.

awesome piece. So lovely.
@ Daven: those are epic!
I love Vigil and am a big fan of Joe Mad and Bobo the Seal. I had a second brush with the Grim Reaper this xmas due to cancer.
What better way to celebrate than have a ZBrush with the Grim Reaper.
Speedsculpt, 2hrs due to my rusty arm.
Really like Daven and Caldrias so far
Here's a quick hair test, trying to go for the joe mad style a bit more. Face still needs smacking about
I still have a bit of work to do on her, but I thought I should post what I have anyway.
I did think of spline/curving it but This is easier haha and I have alot more control over it
Just a little update here, a few overall tweaks and a quick two-tone polypaint for depth on top of Hazardous' matcap
Scudz,Dan,Daven,SveinY,Crazy,Ocarian,Teriyaki,slave_zero: awesome work guys

The bowl is actually the exploding crystals that are in Darksiders. Prolly need to adjust the angle in those shots at some point. Here's a better one:
