@ Fenixy: Sweet squig, we now have a herd of them! @LordSebbington: Nice claw, I'm sure any Ork would be happy to kill with that @Fozwroth: Glad to see you finished this, turned out really cool! @GDR: Nice bolt pistol, try chamfering the edges for added awesomeness! @Der Hollander: Nice sketch, 2D is more than welcome in the art jam imo @MattQ86: Nice sculpt, Genestealer?
Here's my finished Sister of Battle, I had a lot of fun making it!
This is the last day of the Warhammer Art Jam, but feel free to post your entries a bit later if you want to spend a bit more time on it. It was a lot of fun seeing what people have made, hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
katana will be taking over for the next couple of weeks with the Shadowrun Art Jam. Looking forward to it!
This theme will run for two weeks. You can chose to follow the 'sub-themes' for each of their respective weeks or do a bigger project over the entire period. It's up to you.
Don't worry about every little nuance trying to 'get it right'. Do what you can...post as you go and post often!
And most importantly...Have Fun!
It is a time of corporate espionage, secrecy, making deals with dragons and selling information to the highest bidder. A virus has changed the way humans look. Some sprout great teeth and others; pointed ears. Some use advancements in bio-medical technology to graft on bionic replacements super enhancing the senses, others have been 'awakened' to a new power....called Magic.
The shadows also created a vicious black market and a virtual landscape created by The Net, protected by deadly security and at the same time, melting the brains who would risk "jacking in".
Whether your weapon of choice is an ancient artifact, a gossamer sliver of fiber optic probe or the biggest cannon you can carry, there is money to be made in the shadows.
Would you be a Rigger, a Street Samurai, a Ganger or corporate Enforcer?
Would you wear the best clothes, drive the best vehicles or paint on face warpaint and dance with the Rats in the sewer?
This Art Jam is a great opportunity to play around with those glow maps and alpha planes you've been neglecting. It's open to some really amazing vehicles, weapons and characters of course, but more importantly, it's a chance to show us something abstract. What does the Net look like? What does an ICE look like when it's bearing down in true savage, Tron like fashion, animalistic in nature, ready to virtually tear your throat out? (Ice is an intrusion counter-measure program that corporations use to keep out hackers....)
Want to do something in 2D? Go for it!

There's some excellent work in here. Good job guys!
Here's my HP Tyranid Lictor. Originally I wanted to retopo and rig but time got away from me - I've got a goal so maybe on the next one eh. I don't feel too bad though, I feel like I'm improving with each build and I really enjoyed it - that's what it's all about.
Ever since I saw a great example of a bike with an armored girl on CGSociety, I always wanted to do a similar subject. With the new theme, it seemed the right time.
I have a dozen thumbnail sketches of bikes, this one I call "Jaws"
Been super busy as I have moved country and started at a new studio which is in crunch right now, so wasn't able to do as much as I wanted. Anyway here's my Sprawl Ganger. I was planning to turn him into an Ork like in the ref, but right now he's just a plane old human (which I made during the start of the Shadowrun Art Jam from a Zsphere as a likeness study).
Yea I was dragging my feet on this jam too, but I like where the bike ended up. Still have a few details to model before going back to work on the rider.
I wish this jam would have held more interest, but I guess it dated me...:)
...but 3 failed starts later I decided I wanted to play with emissive maps in Marmoset and ensure that the model was low poly so I had to axe the rest of him. I'm thinking sub-dermal tech and magic.
You can do one piece over the course of the 2 weeks from the general brief of aliens, or take part in the mini challenges and do one piece per week using the following briefs:
Week 1: "We Come In Peace"
Week 2: "We've Come For Dinner"
There is course a plethora of aliens throughout popular culture, games, films even mythology - too many to list here. Cute little critters or seasoned planet killers, not to mention their homes, weapons and transportation.
Having fun is the name of the game - 2D, 3D, hard surface or soft surface - You're free to interpret this brief how you see fit.
Right then, stage 1: a WIP of Elliot's bike from ET.
I want to try finish the bike, ET and Elliot by the end of challenge as well as aiming for the Telltale Games style in Back To The Future (Speilberg much?).
I'm going to do cutouts for the spokes.
For anyone interested, Elliot's bike is a Kuwahara
That's as far as I've got within the time limits of the Jam but I'm going to keep working on this one afterwards; it's been quite satisfying and I'd like to see it fully textured and rigged.
This theme will run for two weeks. You can chose to follow the 'sub-themes' for each of their respective weeks or do a bigger project over the entire period. It's up to you.
Don't worry about every little nuance trying to 'get it right'. Do what you can...post as you go and post often!
And most importantly... Have Fun!
With the recent purchase of the Star Wars empire by Disney, we have come to a turning point in the iconic history of this incredible adventure. In 1977, I recall cutting school four times in order to go to the cinema to watch the first movie (which became 'A New Hope' later on).
The film also is responsible for blue screen photography ( the predecessor of green screen). In those days there were not any 3D programs like we have today.
Everything was stop motion animation, puppetry (Jim Henson), and model building...not to mention of course the myriad of craftsmen in the special effects dept. handling everything from explosions to latex masks.
Disney has already announced several Star Wars based projects and spin offs and with that in mind there has been much concern about Disney characters crossing over into the Star Wars universe.
With this Art Jam...you are challenged to do just that!
Arkham Origins is on its way so at the risk of jumping the gun it's time to get a little buzzed about it.
Everybody is welcome and having fun is the aim - 2D, 3D, hard surface or soft surface - You're free to interpret this brief how you see fit.
You can do one piece over the course of the 2 weeks from the general brief of Batman, or take part in the mini challenges and do one piece per week using the following briefs:
Sorry this is a day late, had to work till crunch o'clock last night. Wanted to do another zSphere to realistic likeness study, so I leaned more towards the Star Wars theme than Disney. So here it is!
I love Darth Donald!
Awesome stuff wish I could partake perhaps I will don't know got a lot on my plate but great work gents and nice themes, seems everyone is busy, busy.
@TheDarkKnight - wow, I don't think anyone can get anymore batman. You should dish out a quick batarang for the jam
@D4V1DC - One good thing about the jam is it's definitely helped me get quicker, if only by just making me focus and stop messing with a build.
I'm after a little advice from people here - I've got this sculpt of batman and I'm trying improve my fold sculpting skills but it's just off. I want the cowl to seem really thin, almost like a rubber glove.
I'm also making him skinny with a pointy chin. Based on this image:
Hey guys! This is my first time in Art Jam. I love this idea and will try to submit more in the thread. I'm still in the beginning stages or this thing they call art so there will be many happy mistakes.
There is vast wealth of beautiful and striking concept art on the web. I highly recommend checking out the first link, which is the work Ben Mauro did for the film. Quite a few people have told me they want to get involved, so I'm really excited to see all the entries for this one!
Feel free to post you WIP shots in this thread, I will try and do the same. No weekly challenge this time, just two full weeks to make something awesome! I'll be working on this in hangouts most days, so drop in and share what you're doing! Also feel free to drop me a pm if you have any questions.

I need to make time to partake in this awesome challange
Based on THIS image
There's some fun ideas in this batch - Good job guys
Awesome stuff wish I could partake perhaps I will don't know got a lot on my plate but great work gents and nice themes, seems everyone is busy, busy.
A little project I've been working on in my spare time, mostly as hard surface practice.
@D4V1DC - One good thing about the jam is it's definitely helped me get quicker, if only by just making me focus and stop messing with a build.
I'm after a little advice from people here - I've got this sculpt of batman and I'm trying improve my fold sculpting skills but it's just off. I want the cowl to seem really thin, almost like a rubber glove.

ooozes style and would probably be fun to attempt as well.
@Andra - Solid stuff, that's a good solid brim on the hat and I like the disdain in his face
THE JOKER...
took a few liberties and went a different direction with the character.
Liking the hard surface too ' the dark knight'
Stephen, those are pretty cool illustrations
