Reading this again today I realize I might have started in the wrong order If its ok can I just reverse the order ^^ ? made pretty good progress on it already. My brain only picked up "warhammer" "fantasy and 40k" and it kinda went green light, gogogogo!
There is no wrong order! Do whatever you'd like under the Warhammer theme. Just think of the sub themes as optional challenges during the two weeks, you don't have to do them
Nice change of pace guys glad to see these still alive, I tried my best to finish up for the borderlands Art-Jam session but I landed a gig hopefully permanent.(electrical field)
Thanks for kicking ass and starting these crazyfool, hopefully this remains here, these are a lot of fun.
Will be watching and trying to participate if I can but I doubt it.
Well I abandoned the spline route as I wasn't making any drawings for this (and it was taking too long) and just using reference...I'm a little out of practice, so I guess I'll be doing a few of these today before I'm satisfied enough to retopo.
Fozwroth: Good to see a bit of Chaos
Harford: Looking good man.
I've opted for 40K over 2 weeks but I want to bust out a very small piece next week too.
Tyranid Lictor block in. Going off this concept art, it was in the codex or White Dwarf, I've always loved it.
Initially I posed it based on the picture - looking good - but on profile it looked off balance so I've tweaked it and I'll rig it to have a more dynamic pose.
I've started using Modo so from this jam I want to get to grips with its retopo process and rigging, plus the process in general - I'm still relatively new to 3D so any tips or pointers are very welcome.
Some really cool work in here, hope everyone is having fun with this! I went for a squiggy too
Please feel free to post your WIPs on this thread if you want, it would be interesting to see how peoples work develop and it would be good to keep this thread busy so we can see how many people are actually getting involved. I shall try to do the same in the future!
After chatting to some people taking part in the Art Jams, I think I will post an Art Jam Gallery thread so we can put just our finished work in there, and it would make people feel more comfortable to post WIPs in here. What do you guys think?
So much great work here love that timelapse stromberg. I am doing already an warhammer orc for my portfolio..http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121733... but today I just felt like doing something quick so heres an rape face empire sigmar priest :P
I know it isn't much, but I've started this guy like 4 or 5 times already. The scale was bothering me the most. The tabletop figures are 2.5 heads high and were dear to my old school RPG days heart...so that's what I'm going with...now if I could only settle on a sculpting process....
@sakechi: Thanks for your submission sakechi, but posting things you worked on prior to the Art Jam, such as the drums scene which you published on September of last year according to youtube, goes against the spirit of the Art Jam.
A separate thread for finished pieces may be confusing for people. Personally I'm happy to put it all in one place. Maybe further down the line. Do you find the hangouts useful for this? I've not been on before - a little bit tentative truth be told.
@LordSebbington: The idea with the gallery seems a bit 50/50 with people atm, guess I'll put that on the backburner for now. You should definitely come on the hangouts tonight, it's a really fun place when working on personal stuff like the Art Jam. I'll be on again tonight, hopefully see you in there!
@Harford: Great work Joe! Looking forward to seeing what you make for 40k!
Some texture progress on my Deathguard. Need some love here and there and a proper glossmap ^^ might also toss it into UDK and see if I can make some cool shaders, its currently in marmoset. hopefully done by tonight, will also do a highpoly render.
might jump on a fantasy piece as well If I feel I have the time and steam.
I wanted to do the Lion, and got to doing the hair before I realized how out of practice I was and focused on doing yet another Dark Angel. I drew this on bus trips to and from work with a few sessions at home. Every time I hit the paint, suddenly I have no idea what I'm doing. I'll keep plugging away at it, but it's probably not getting done by Friday
Der Hollander : Looking pretty sweet. We never really said this was a 3D Jam and I think (as an illustrator...so maybe I'm a bit biased) That you dropped that in here.
Even if you don't get it done by Friday, you can drop in the finished work later in the week or whenever.
As long as it conforms to an Art Jam, I don't think anyone will mind.

blocking out a Deathguard terminator bust. Will probably just build and sculpt a highpoly then render it so it doesn't eat up too much of my time ^^
anyways here is a early WIP still massaging the verts to get the shapes right - these guys have quite funky proportions when you think about it O.o
using my own miniatures as reference plus some Forgeworld images.
SKAVENZ!!!
not happy with the body, will probably redo completely, go for something hunched over in the extreme or something.
GLORY TO THE HORNED RAT!
Here some progress on a Squig

I'm working on a chaos troll:0
zspheres->dynamesh
I still need to work on the face and the body and add in spikes/rings
@SCB I like the art jam gallery idea I think it'd be cool to see all the finished works of the art jams
sorry about the mix up earlier.
So here is a quick orc bust I just finished.
Did a bit more tonight on my lictor - WIP ahoy.
I think I'm calling this guy final !
started sculpting on it still WIP also started building the lowpoly. Im going to render it in realtime instead^^ feeling for some texturing.

I'll be giving a try at this concept from daarken, http://cghub.com/images/view/123024/
Early WIP, I'll try to find the time to work on this guy a bit in the next week.
Decided to do a quick lowpoly and texture of the axe.
Had a go at the doom siren thingy, not really familiar with the warhammer universe but was fun having a look around
Here's a female marine (based on the Sisters of Battle from 40k):
My participation in this!
might jump on a fantasy piece as well If I feel I have the time and steam.
@Stromberg90: That axe has really come to life with the texture work!
@Kazperstan: Nice work Karen! Glad we've finally got some environment art entries
@Kot_Leopold: Sweet sister of battle, I like the armour detailing! I'm actually doing one myself for the 40k challenge
@Joe March: Nice work Joe, creepy chaos bust!
@Fozwroth: Cool deathgaurd, been fun watching this develop!
Anyway, here's an early WIP of my Sister of Battle:
Sunday diversion WIP: Ork Powerklaw - LP w/normal.
Still working on the Lictor.
7900 triangles and 2048*2048 texture maps

Ork powerklaw finished. I'd like to revisit when I improve some.
Now to finish up the Lictor
Oh damn this is totally awesome, love how his beady little eyes peek out from the hood
Been working on this (it is a bolt pistol if you can't tell ). I'm not quite as capable as most of you so I chose something I thought would be simple.
Still a lot more to go, but if anyone has any ideas/critic I would love some.
Even if you don't get it done by Friday, you can drop in the finished work later in the week or whenever.
