Did some quick fan art of a barrel from TF2, today. Plan to do a few more props and set up a little scene in Source, but for now it's just flat view in Max
Texture flat:
This looks mega neat, Cordell; have you done any other env art for TF2? If so, I'd love to see it

Nope! This was the first thing I've tried in the style but I plan on doing some more. I've been a fan of the game and art for several years so I wanted to start recreating some of it.
Ravenslayer: Nice dude, the materials feel a little off in some place (the kneepad especially looks like concrete) but wicked model
CIEI3: She could maybe use a bit more nose definition, something about her face feels weird. Very nice curves though...
Made a proper logo for the main patch and fixed up his mullet a bit:
Dropping in with a quick wip of my newest Dota courier's death.
And to wish all you polycounters a very safe and Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday and a great new year!!
I feel like the weight shift of tumbling backwards to falling forwards feels too sudden. I think it would be better if you did one of two things. Either continue the backwards tumble and have it roll to the side or if you stick with it falling forward add a slight beat before shifting the weight. A very slight pause may make the weight shift feel more realistic.
Awesome work everyone as always very inspiring, maybe my work will encourage others to try to do more original pieces (speaking to the lurkers more than anything).
Xmas work after my injury and all, think of this like my wow mount it can do land sea and air.
Also my very first full character painted texture in zbrush woohoo, just todays work about 3 hours.!
Awesome work raven looks almost like teen wolf related for some reason.
A quick ( took about maybe 12-13 hours total to model from start to "somewhat finished" ) HP practice so i can TOTALLY not try out HP rendering in marmoset toolbag!
Forgive the insanely rushed and crappy toolbag setup..I just did this to see how it runs having a couple millions polies on the viewport and did this at 1AM
Hi everyone. Here what i'm working on right now. I think that i can call her my first human character, tried my best, but still need to practise more to improve my skill and one day become a character artist Still need to do some textures tweaks.
As reference i choosed wallpaper.
Sorry. No great advance today. I managed to place the forest without dropping the frame rate that is all
This will be the scene where Radagaskar was seen ( or I hope so )
The area was too big and just placing a forest on it dropped my framerate to fatal levels. I used many known tricks with Cryengine. Like using LOD's after some distance, turning to sprites after LODs and even completely erasing trees after they are far away. But this was not enough so I used an artist trick
I just placed muce less trees of all kinds then I scaled them sky high
So from far away it still looks like there is a forest but number of trees dropped dramatically. Frame rate still alive
This was inspired by some of my favorite sci-fi movies from the 70s,80s and 90s.
I created it for this years Gnomon Master Classes, where I went over the process of creating believable environments efficiently. I really enjoyed making it and hope to do another piece in a similar style now that I feel I have really got my head around it.
Here you can see some pictures of one of my last jobs:
The painted model of the Russian warship (I published some pictures of the 3D model some time ago), as usual it was painted by Jens Christian Jensen from Valdemar Miniatures.
My first human model and a really big anatomy study. There are so much to learn for environment artist. I´m going for pin-up/diesel punk style for this one, hopefully

Update from my Thread, crits much needed!!!!!!!!

And a new ship model: the bremer kogge
This is looking really good. Try to add little bit more of contrast to the final result. Other than that really nice
(errr, double posted by mistake, I can't find the delete button, someone help)
ysalex Cool render
Here I painted my Christmas Harley. Happy holidays everyone !
Think im gonna leave this at this and move onto other things, was fun making a stylized character though, pretty far off from what I normally do

tried to challenge myself and do some linework
I managed a bit more work on this today, mainly some lighting/particle tweaks:
Worked a bit more on this
Made a quick briefcase alongside the recorder and played some more with toolbag...
@Glode Are you using environment probes in your scene?
