Sorry for the image heavy post
Calling my model done,
I know it's still not perfect but I always stop when I'm in overall please with my model so I don't get too bored and keep on learning etc.
Can't wait to start the low resolution and the texturing phase.
Hope you guys like it!
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rrm0KdLkTpo]It transforms[/ame] It transforms like the original, although the parts don't fit together nearly as cleanly because I started with a stretched reference image and didn't notice until it was too late. ooops
Hi everyone. First time posting work on Polycount. Lately I've been really wanting to shift my focus towards making real time art and with that actually start posting things.
Anyways, here's something I've been working on for the past week.
Rendered in Marmoset.
And trying out Verold.
[VEROLD]52241cac83196a02000004fb[/VEROLD]
Been working on some tiling textures. Everyone's stuff is looking awesome. :]
Nice scuplt! I see three problems with this texture though. Number is that the normal is not normalized, probably cause you overlayed some other normalmap, like noise, in photoshop. If you'r gonna overlay stuff, remove 50% of the blue channel first.
Second thing is that your diffuse is to dark. Just try to balance it out.
And lastly, you got shadows in your diffuse and your spec. If you'r gonna use this on something that have a light source underneath or if you'll be using this on flatter terrain you'll get strange results.
Ha Nice SpaceCentipede! You nailed the likeness. Gotta agree about the butcrack tho lol
Hey nice Tits..., haha couldn't resist saying that. gud stuff tho, the creases look alittle like they have been put there rather than actually forming there naturally if you get what I mean? Perhaps adding abit of weight to them would make them seem more realistic.
I've been derping around with Lightcaps again, giving away a couple of Matcaps in ma thread since peeps have been inquiring. My usual darkblue
and this one, didn't quite go how I originally intended but it was interesting none the less !
Now I need to get on and make some proper shoes instead of these silly tiny things T__T;
And more on a texturing note, all the damage and scratches seem to be the same size and scattered evenly across him. There should be areas with lots of a scratches (shoulder pads, hand plates) and areas where he won't get scratched as much (armpits, inner thighs etc, assuming his own armour doesn't scratch itself)

Mask_Saleman I'm sorry I need more information :P The crease of what? The folds?
Pixelatedkiwi Thanks a lot, I'm glad you liked it. I'm in love with your little environment, the texturing and ambiance is amazing, congrats!
I think he means the folds on her stomach. I feel like the folds have enough weight to them, but the shirt itself seems very stiff? As if the folds have no effect on the overall shape of the shirt. I don't know.. hard to explain
Anyway, I think overall the model looks awesome, was instantly recognizable as Ellie. So unless you were going for Joel I'd say job well done
Also I love her hair (especially the hair being pulled back into the tail) even though it's still so rough. I just finished hair on my own model, but now I think I'll scrap the hair and retry.

Ok Ok I understand,
thanks for the input, it's a bit late so I won't actually make any changes to the model at this point but I will make sure to keep this in mind for my next model.
About the hair yah it's still pretty rough and it might actually not work at all as it is now for the low resolution version, I think it will be a big challenge
I've never posted in this thread before, but love looking through it each day, great stuff here! I started this scene around a year ago but work pressures etc saw it packed away on a dusty hardrive for much of that. The last few months i've worked more steadily on it and though the abandoned theme is getting a lot of love lately thanks to the fantastic 'Last of Us', i'm endeavouring to finish it shortly! I'll hopefully post a thread as a bit of a motivator soon too as i've still barely touched the lighting eek!
So....here's my old/abandoned/derelict/desserted/overgrown/naturified/you.name.it.i'll.put.grass.on.it....hospital wing

I heartily approve of this FCLAPD is one of my favourite oldschool games. Proceed!
I've done some lighting updates for my mill environment, the WIP thread is over at http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125123.
Pixelatedkiwi: that environment looks soo awesome. You nailed the hand painted style bang on in my opinion, keep it up!
Here's a sword based on a Blizzard concept art, that I've been working on:
I have a thread for it as well : http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116658&page=2

I'm still working on blocking her out. I have to go back and adjust some proportions.
