I hope it isn't considered too wide for a ward when I get it placed in game... Current progress, still gotta sculpt the lid, maybe damage up the entire piece, and add some little ward buddies. The Sentry version will be silver plated with the blue eyes inside.
Textures are just 2 random colors I chose in Zbrush as placeholders for now xD Don't judge those please
Flech perhaps reduce the size from where the lock divides the ward into two halves, then have one eye as opposed to four? Simplicity in design is best. I think it'd look really nice as a square small chest as opposed to a long one with lots of eyes.
@Vlad English isn't his first language, you didn't have to be rude.
@Pros I'll be frank, he might not like your work etiquette. Based on my previous experience working with you, I would say that you yourself is the biggest problem. You don't take your partner's feedback easily and you seem to complain a lot.
Well, English is not the first language of a lot of people around this forum (me included), but people at least try to write something intelligible.
There are online translators around, dictionaries and such, you know.
Furthermore, given this guy ripped off game concepts and felt entitled to complain after using a concept of a fellow forumite without permission, I've to agree there's surely more reasons behind the block other than the dislike of his sculpting skills.

your main issue is it isnt identifiable as a ward immediately. your sillhouette is completely different to the vertical pole that every other ward has, and it also seems a lot flatter than other wards

Redid the base with this idea in mind. Really liking how it's going so far :poly142:
I've been a little tardy lately with posting my updates to the good old polycount,
Just finished off this Weapon for Blood Seeker and along with DoubleLeaf have compile a few videos that i hope you find helpful, be sure to click through and check the item on the workshop as well.
I dont mean set limites for templar assasin, but for all heroes overall, all the sets valve has choosen are of all the pieces, havent seen one who is just 3 except for the corpse dress of death prophet
Really happy with current progress Waiting for animations to be made and maybe it can be uploaded into Dota 2 for final touchups based on in-game renders.
A lot of the heroes are like that. I think they scaled up the heroes using the $scale command in the QC and never transferred that info to however the importer compiles. I pretty much only use decompiled models now because too many of the ones on the requirements page are out of date and it gets annoying spending a couple of hours trying to figure out what's wrong only to realize it's just the out of date requirements page.
Alright, new stuff that was late for September competition but still managed to finish it. based on Fox/Fishie's concept. This was also my first experience in modeling hair. I think I learned a lot and a lot to learn still.
i'm sure most of you know that vlad and i have been making lots of stuff since january-ish of this year, with a reasonable amount of success. he's never been the most personable guy around but we got stuff done. from the beginning we've always had a 30/70 revenue split.
however he's now taken it upon himself to increase his cut to 90% on my latest naga set. since i (surprisingly) disagreed with this, i didn't accept the share and asked him to delete the set.
with his usual tact, he said 'nah' and is now both ignoring communication and refusing to delete it. now the set is on the workshop and he looks like the only person behind it.
seeing as this isn't his first notable concept mishap, i've decided to write this up in public in the hopes that something's gonna change.

Before everyone grabs their pitchforks, let Vlad give his side of the story. I don't see any logic in working your ass off to make DoTA 2 art, guides, and become one of the most recognized names among workshop artists to just turn around and burn the bridges for 20%. As ridiculous as 90% is, what was the justification? I'm hoping there's more to this than just blatant greed...
Hey newbie here, does anyone know if its possible to start with a high poly base mesh and then add details in zbrush/mudbox and create the low poly last?
If so at which point should the UV's be made and from which mesh?
Thanks in advance
Edit:
Also would you guys mind telling me which workflow you use?

yeah, you can start in Zbrush and retopo it.
UVs should be made on the low-poly mesh. You'll bake the high-poly details on your low-poly mesh.
I usually blockout the low-poly referencing the size and the shapes of the heroes, then bring it to Zbrush, Dynamesh and sculpt away, than retopo, unwrap, bake and it's almost done!
Definitely possible, that's just one way of doing things.
The UVs should be done on the low poly - you probably don't need UVs on the high poly or the sculpt since most of the time it's just used to project ambient occulsion and normal maps for the low poly.
another thing I noticed is that after uploading my latest submission valve added some marketing guide thing on theyr requirements page,is marketing really that necessary for a item to get picked?

Well this is really disappointing. I thought Vlad was cleaning up his act but I guess not. This isn't the first time Vlad has pulled something like this. I hope the items get deleted by Valve if this is true.

Maybe I'm overstepping my bounds, but Vlad, since you haven't responded yet but have clearly read the thread, I'm going to guess that you feel you did 90% of the work and so you deserve 90% of the profit. But if you've agreed to a 30/70 split, then you've agreed to a 30/70 split, fullstop. You can't change the split after everything is over, no matter how much extra work you had to do.
If there's more to the story and I've got it wrong please tell us what's going on. Or if you've made a mistake just change the split back to what was originally agreed upon and be done with it, you could lose your privilege to submit new things to the workshop if valve got wind of this... it's not worth it.
Edit: Congrats to the people that got stuff in this week!
Quick question guys, I remember reading that all heroes would have alpha transparency enabled at some point. Does anyone know if that has come to pass? or if Death Prophet has it at least.

That ogre mask and those swords are looking really nice
all I have left to do is a ward and this set is done
really pleased with the results so far
It looks awesome, want to see it in a chest!
Just finished off this Weapon for Blood Seeker and along with DoubleLeaf have compile a few videos that i hope you find helpful, be sure to click through and check the item on the workshop as well.

I havent seem any set that is composed of 3 items,so I was wondering if that rule got changed
so all the items I modeled on him are significantly smaller
I decompiled his existing model and he's significantly bigger
I doubt my smd importer scaled the models down
Can you tell if it's simply a uniform scale or is it reproportioned non-uniformly?

I have one more question, when submitting items what determines if they are accepted for game or not.
Do i need lots of comments and likes from the public or is the decision solely down to valve? I'm guessing its a bit of both?
btw this is my latest submision, hope you like it

He started out stealing spells, now he's stealing costume elements. Those shoulders and tassles look a lot like Crystal Maiden items.

I really like the fire on your scroll Is that a custom particle effect or did you use an in-game one?
