Zaphk -- Argh, I'm in love, can't wait to see the finished product
Neox -- I really really want that Omniknight hammer..!!
Big congrats to those who got their sets in this week! However...
I've been working on my own CM set today and with the original model and textures fresh in my mind, I noticed that it kind of looks like the new Frostiron CM set has basically reused most of the original valve-made Crystal Maiden textures. Here's a diagram to point out the similarities I found...
Hmm, that's an interesting one. Part of me is upset that they would do that, but it is something that could happen in a studio situation (reusing textures for variants)
But yeah, don't the things that are being made need to be original and new?
Sad when people can't come up with original stuff.
But when people from non-modeling backgrounds do, they don't spend enough time refining the design, plunge into modeling too fast, don't know how to texture, and end up not being accepted.
Hey guys, finally generated working normals maps, before I submitted these this weekend wanted to submit some shots and see if anyone could spot any issues I missed. Other than that, I should be submitting by Sunday.
Is anyone having problems when uploading items to the workshop? It's not appearing on the recent page
Edit: While I can't submit...
Sheesh, that's awesome. You guys are rapidly becoming my favorite artists on the workshop.
I was thinking of pushing to make a Luna set after my current item, but...mayyyyybe, I 'll hold off on that a little bit
Speaking of my current item, I have a question and thought maybe someone's whose dug into the data might have an answer. I have an idea for a Pudge hook, but I'm wondering: Does anyone know if the hook he throws and the hook he holds are separate models in-game? It would help me if they were, but if not I might just push this thing out and see if it gets a reaction on the workshop, maybe Valve would oblige me somewhat.
White looks good, but I'm still kinda leaning towards the blue one (maybe a lighter blue?)
I need a bit of help with this model:
Any tips on the chains? I'm not sure I can fit them under 350, so I may have to cut them (or maybe leave at least one).
My calculations :
simplest chain form is a cubic contour with triangular rects. each chain unit makes then 4*3*2 = 24 polys
having 12 chain units (what i see the in model) : 12* 24 = 288
so due to my calculations you're over limit with the chains only
but im giving it too much detail i think.
You could also fake them on planes with transparency ( if u can pull it off that is) which in-case you do, well, you're a cheap shot just kidding cuz thats all modelin' z all 'bout.

Yeah, that's the problem, too many triangles!
I'm not sure if they would look good on planes, but it's an option. I guess I'll do it without the chains, and if I can do it later, try to fit them on planes and see if it looks good.

"A web server outage caused the display to be messed up for a little while"
Also, when doing preview, zoom out and look at it again. Just to be sure.
Fixed now. Showing up as of 2:40.
And another one
that would really be worth it!
Congrats man!
Hey what's that on the "Coming up on Giant Bomb" area?

I've tried to make things like runes and such look the same.
But alas, Valve would recognize it, I think, maybe they're ok with it.
Anyways, copy or not, what impresses me the most is the low quality of the set, it's in my view no improvement over the default.
if you look carefully the gap sizing is different

^ that was me. Literally nothing personal.
TOOO GOOD! =O

Icons have been updated as requested
Updated the colors on my invoker Quas set, I think it's close enough to match but still connotes cold. Masking left to go, then finalization!
Finished luna's textures today!
Glad that I am not the only one feeling like that :shifty:
@Anuxi: Looks amazing but still the whiskers are contemplation worthy.
And it's up:

Mikimaru =D
Definitely 1.
Why not white? Give it a try

Shit be popping now! So much better. Oh and +1 for creepy Anti-Mage smile

Thanks a lot for the help!
imho it's better without chains. IMHO.
Yep same here. I get an error saying it can't write to the Steam Cloud?
