Hello everyone, and welcome to my thread! I finally decided to start a thread to register my progress on this project. I've been modeling some assets here and there for a while, and decided to put them all into a scene. That said, this is my first try at a larger scale project. We gotta start somewhere! :D Please, i…
How to reproduce the fine details of the environnement I can expect that rough asphalt like in the image would need to be sculpted in Zbrush, but should fine cobblestones, tiled floors and fine joints in masonry like in the next image be sculpted or can they be reproduced with textures? (1) Reproduce with textures.(2)…
This is really nice. Great job with the final rendering. The look great. I am really humbled with all the detail. Question. As a general rule of thumb/personal preference, do environment artist generally create the high poly out of the base program like max/maya, etc, or do they take it into zbrush/mudbox? I believe you…

I'm happy to share my latest personal project created during my 6-week environment art mentorship with Alex Beddows & Skilltree. The scene is inspired by the "Emperors Corridor" in the Czech Republic. A few images below, and more on Artstation: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/NGYY05 I took a lot of the skills learned…
I think it looks good. very simple - but that's no bad thing - The environment looks good. I think my main crits would be that the environment doesn't have much focus, there is no scene or room that I can piece together from the shots. It's clearly screenshots from a project of some kind but I have no idea how it all…
I've been working on a UDK environment for school this past semester and I've finally been able to convince myself it's worth posting here. Tyranids basically are insect-aliens which devour everything on a planet, dump it into digestion pools at the base of "capillary towers". Capillary towers reach into low orbit where…
Hey Scott, Thanks for sharing your work. If I were to review this work, the first thing I would say is 'Its a good start' The Modeling is pretty decent but we can certainly push the environment more in texturing. I understand you like to keep it clean but we can certainly break the surface of the wall since you have some…

This is a question more for games with biomes or titlesets. Like for example a game has different zones or locations with very different environments. How many trees, rocks, and other doodads per zone or location do most artists make? What's the sweet spot do you create 5 trees or 10 trees? What about planes of grass, etc.
