Yes, you can (and often should) use normal maps with hand-painted textures. However, simply using a default blinn or phong material will hide lots of the beauty you can achieve with hand painting. You need to come up with your own shader for rendering with hand-painted diffuse with normal maps. Lighting is just as, if not…
Hi, Teaching myself painted textures without AO or Curvature maps for guidance so am looking for some good tutorials that go over different tricks and methods. Below are some attempts at painted textures please give pointers. Thanks. Wood Tiles, rocks where created to tile but due to colorization are now not tiling and…
Looking good so far! The light on the wall above the electrical box, usually those have a visible conduit connecting to the electrical box. Might be nice to add. For the pipe hero asset pics, I would prefer less empty space around the models… get those up close to the camera. Wireframes are easier to read if they are…
Hi, I am currently looking for someone to create a model and hand paint the texture for. I am expecting around 1500-3000 tri with 512 to 1024 size texture. The model will be of a girl in a dress with long hair. 2D concept sketches with color will be provided. IMPORTANT : The final outcome of the model will be rendered for…
Well I've always had a love for hand painted textures but never had a real go at it myself. So, how am I doing? Here's my first work in progress, its a 2048 x 2048 4-way tiling wood texture (Exciting I know.) Painted in Krita with its awesome Wrap mode enabled. I'm not sure about my value range, I've tried to keep it muted…
I just graduated recently and I would really like to be an environment/texture artist for a game company. I usually lean more towards next gen modular assets using zbrush to sculpt and polypaint a lot of the texture. However i have always loved and been a fan of hand painted texturing and have always been jealous at the…
So, somebody can help me with this? Obvious problem here is that you have at least three matching textures (Albedo, Gloss, Specular/Metallness) and in 3d painting like Mari and Mudbox apps you can paint only one. Is this even possible?
I'm getting into low poly stuff and I want to know if there's a way to paint directly onto the model in maya. Since it's low poly and I'm only using single colors then the UV Unwrapping process is really time consuming and pointless if I could just paint onto the model. I know blender has this function so does Maya as well?
Let's say I'm modelling a shoe. The shoe has holes where the shoelaces go through. I have a choice between modelling the holes in, or just painting the alpha transparency of the holes right? What is the difference and which method is preferable?
