Hello Polycount! This is an ocean material that I have been working on for the last few months. It's still a work in progress, so I'm looking forward to some critique on how I can make it look and perform better. Also, I am going to be doing my best to get into the technical stuff while I'm at it. I watched a tutorial on…
When I import the mesh inside 3DS Max, it comes with the materials and textures linked to them that you can see in screenshot 2. For some reason, texture "M" (cf screenshot 3) does not seem to be used when the mesh is exported. Truth be told, I have no way to be sure the current textures are in their correct places in the…
There are things that can assist you. The wiki has everything you need, and a whole lot more: wiki. I put some stuff below that might help. Some of these points dont relate directly to your work above but are general to keep in mind. 1/ Anatomy: That is really the first thing with figures. A good practice is to start your…

Can I duplicate Mudbox materials? For instance, I have the same piece on both sides of my mesh. I want to duplicate the material to apply it to the other side so I can make different variations on it. I don't want to have to remake all the layers again, if necessary. Thanks Polycounters, Zack Dembinski

The tutorial is meant to be a "wish I would have known this when I started" kind of thing and incorporates the ability to adjust many useful parameters. The material can take color, roughness, metal, and…

I have a basic translucent material set to surface forward shading. All other values are default. The string is using a default black opaque…

Hi, I've been having this weird material issue (which you can see below in the image) with a Character mesh that I've been working on, which seem apparent whenever I export and preview the mesh in Sketchfab and Mixamo. I've attempted to fix the normals (which I have done multiple times throughout the project) and reset…
Sorry for the vague title, I wasn't sure what to call it, not really sure I've explained very well. Basically I want to have a parameter on the top level of a substance (accessible in engine) that lets you choose what material a part of an object is made from. So you would select plastic/wood/metal and it changes. I'm…
