How would I do material selector in engine?

Sorry for the vague title, I wasn't sure what to call it, not really sure I've explained very well.

Basically I want to have a parameter on the top level of a substance (accessible in engine) that lets you choose what material a part of an object is made from.

So you would select plastic/wood/metal and it changes.

I'm thinking of doing this by changing the colour for the specific part in the colour mask so that it uses a different input material on a multi material blend node.

Now I'm not sure about the actual implementation as so far all I have managed to do is expose a full colour slider to the engine. Which isn't very good for selecting specific colours.

Can anyone point me ion the right direction? Is there a way to have say a number selector where each number corresponds to a colour defined in the graph?
