How can you bake out a 16 bit normal map in Maya? I know EXR can bake out 32 bits but is there a way to change the size of the bits for any other maps in Maya?

Hey guys, Simple question : how can I increase the quality of my maya fluid rendering (smoke) with maya hardware 2.0. ? When I render, the fluid is all pixelated. I know I have done something I shouldn't messed with and now I am stuck. The selected faces are barely visible which is extremely annoying. How do I change it back to the original orange/brown maya face selection color without resetting maya? And how do I change the wireframe color to maya's default green ?
