Hi guys. So, this has been an issue I have been avoiding for a while now. Everytime I create an object that has a combination of curves and straight edges, I have a whole world of trouble getting the hard edges I want to not effect the smoothness of the rounded areas. A picture is the best description:) where do I put the…
-3ds 2012 (Not using Nitrous) -Direct3D 9.0 -Win 7 So when I have edges selected in the viewport and try to navigate the viewport the edges flicker red and white. Making it very hard to view what edges I have selected. Anyone experience this or know how to fix this? I have tried googling this and searching the forum. But…
thanks for the help, bugo...but I just want 1 (shoulda mentioned) diagonal edge between two verts that are on border edges. I found the edge loop tool and it will be quite handy (already hot-keyed it). I've also downloaded and installed OMToolbox and it will connect internal verts to create an edge, but it won't work on…
Hi polycount! Recently I've done a 3D Machine gun model but someone told me that machine gun edges not looking natural and that edges will cause aliasing problems. But I did a low poly model and guns are made from metal and metals are very solid materials I did edges very hard because of that but still should I chamfer…
Does anyone know if it's possible to set the align to edge option for the translate tool in maya to a single hotkey? The tool option is hidden inside menus and it's slowing down my workflow. The marking menu for this is ok but I'd rather not have to select the option and pick an edge, I'd like it to use whatever I already…
Hi all I've gone through just about all the documentation I can find on lightmass, and still cant eliminate these jagged edges when I bake lighting on the mesh I'm working on (see attachment). I've tried separating the uv's along this edge, stitching them into one shell, buffering the uv shells, still cant get my lightmaps…
Your latest renders have a very hard edge where the atmosphere ends (reminded me of the earth shots in 2001). All your previous renders had too large of an atmosphere falloff. I would recommend something closer to the photos sacboi posted... a thin gradient falloff on the edges of the planet.
Ghostscape's method is fine if your mesh is all planar, flat surfaces. If there's any curved surfaces they will remain faceted when you subdivide with smooth switched off. An alternative is to use the Zbrush "crease edge" function in the tool>geometry panel. You can either use it with a global tolerance (the "Ctolerance"…
I found that it is problem to extrude for instance cube like shape from sphere. I tried different solutions: 1. after extrusion, add supporting edges to have that extrusion with sharp edges. - this will break the shape of the object from which i did the extrusion 2. In Blender, add mean crease, mark edges as sharp and add…
Hi all! In a few occasions lately I ve been in the need of going back to a subdiv mesh and manually remove the edges generated by subdivision, in order to get the base cage back. It's not a very hard thing to do really - just a matter of selecting every other edge loops, and removing them. The result is pretty much what…
