There might be an easier way, but the way I do it is by using the BPR function. If you do a BPR render (the little button on the upper right of the default layout, keyboard shortcut Shift+R), you can go into the Render -> BPR Renderpass menu and click on the "Mask" pass, allowing you to save that mask out for future use.…
Dear Polycounters, I've got another (what I'm sure will be a) fairly simple question for you. I am a complete n00b to Max 2012. After using Max 9 for years I am slowly learning all the shiny new features. The other day I was attempting to take some beauty renders of a finished client piece that I got back from the texture…
Hello, this is my first post. I recently wrote and copyrighted a comic book series, and 2 companies have shown interest. I was told by an expert in the field to make clay models of the characters to show to potential sponsors. > They said a sales pitch of a potential comic book may be > supplemented if there are clay…
I found these rigs called "External World character rigs" - https://davidoreilly.itch.io/external-world-characters When I go to render the rig the texture does not show up. It renders just with a normal Lambert, but in the Maya view port all the rigs have the textures applied. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I…
Tonemapping affects any final rendered image. You can disable/customize it in the postprocess chain. You should really leave it on though because it fixes a lot of rendering issues associated with HDR Rendering.
I've never been able to set up a good looking rendering stage to show off models. I'm a modeler/texture artist and I have very little technical knowledge of how 3DS Max works in terms of lighting and good renders and stuff. How do I set up a good scene to showcase models in 3DSMax? Whenever I try I always get washed out…
Hey. Last week we had so switch over from max 2011 to max 2015. Now im facing several problems and I cant find a solution. I'm working for 8 years now with this program and feel a little stupid here, like in the first days. 1) The Element Background Color when rendering to texture is completely ignored by max. Its always…
Whenever I try to render (using capture>video) custom shaders, the video output is just a frozen image, with no movement whatsoever. Like... it creates a 10 second video of a still image. The shader (basically a scrolling texture) works fine when I'm previewing it, but once it is rendered and a file is created, the result…
ok...this may sound a little werid. bare with me. say you have two planes.....one on top of the other. the top plane has a material on it that effects the way the texture on the lower plane looks. however...the lower plane has an alpha on it i need in order to select it in pshop. but when i render...the higher plane's…
