The issue isn't with the normal map itself. First of all, the material and lighting in Marmoset are pretty flat. If you want to bake an extrusion onto a flat area, without modelling the extrusion into the low poly you need to add more of a slope. Also consider using tessellation + a height map. Cage isn't the issue here.…
One of my favorite firearms, and it looks great too. Nothing really to add, aside from softening up some edges. You may also like to scale the bottom the indents on the hand grip, so it's more of a sloped extrusion. Like so.. \/ It doesn't have to be as exaggerated as below, but if you soften the edge and scale the…
Hey polycount, So ive recently been using maya 2016 and came from 2014. I dont remember this ever happening but now in Maya if I have a mesh isolate selected and want to bridge or extrude a component, isolate refreshes and isolates the component. Which means I have go out of isolate and reselect the mesh. I noticed that if…
Hello, everyone, I had a question regarding moving a subtool from Zbrush to Maya to edit some forms (in particular to extrude and add in sharp lines). Is there a way to move my subtool from Zbrush to Maya to edit without having to decimate? I can't do what I want with the decimated model in Maya due to the mesh being the…
At some point I accidentally merged a foot vertex to under the arm. So I (probably wrongly) just deleted those stretched out faces. I then tried to fill the hole under the arm and in the foot but had problems. And when I finally did, they don't match the material of the main body any more. I've tried reapplying new…
Dear All, I would like to create a texture for lower poly model. I have a struggle with painting faces, because when I paint it paints at the vertexes, and when it does it paint all the faces connected to that vertexes in ever directions. For example I have a telescope with extruded rings, and I would like to make the tube…
Like the title says. I'm blocking out bat wings for a low poly character, yet I'm having a lot of trouble with the membranes between the wing bones. I can just extrude out and plane and target weld it to the opposing bone, and when I try to bridge polys across i get overlapping edges and verts. How should I go about…
Hi guys ! I have a weird problem with the "flow path object" within maya. So basically, I create a curve : After that, i use the "flow path object" (on a cylinder for the example) and get all these twists ... I tried "rebuild curve", "smooth curve" etc but nothing seems to solve this problem ... Do you have any idea of…
Also, since this thread asked about polycount, here's what one guy did with only 1300 triangles. 1000 for an oil barrel should be more than enough. What matters is how do you expect the player to look at it? If the barrel serves as something important that the player can immediately zoom up on, then it makes sense to have…
@Kanni3d Hey thank you, yup there are too many artifacts along that curve above the extruded details slightly visible in first pic. Well actually I did this way earlier sorry didnt mention when making this post, the reason I did not continue with uv split is because I want to keep texture seamless be able to stamp unique…
