So I've been doing almost entirely hard surface assets and substances at work for the last 6 months, and decided to do a quick study on something more organic. I've had a chunk of raw obsidian sitting on my desk at work, and decided today to take a couple hours and do a material study on it. Started as a sphere in ZBrush,…
Hi everyone, new member here! I'm currently learning Substance Designer together with Toolbag for material creation and presentation. I'm enjoying a lot the process but I still have a lot to improve, so I thought sharing my stuff over here for critique and feedback would be a nice help on the way to fix mistakes, learn new…
Hi guys! I created an addon that will reduce PBR material creating time to ONE second.Basicaly it makes materials for you. Just choose the directory with textures you want to use, click one button and you are done.No more repetitive joining nodes and choosing textures manually. It also provides a button to reload all…
A post process material will be a fixed cost so you can budget for it easily even if it is expensive. The downside to doing this in post is that you won't be able to feed the noise back into materials for masking etc. - why is why I've opted to do it in a standard material for my own project.
Hi all, Short version: I would like to know if anyone knows how to bake Zmaterials to Polypaint? Long version: I've done some research online and understand there are a couple of ways to transfer materials and polypaint to a UV'd character (Joseph Durst's methods for example). I wish to bake the Zmaterial to polypaint of a…
Hi, Any idea why would the material ID's would be missing in UDK from an object that has 3 meshes and 3 material ID's? I've been trying things and looked around the forums and couldn't find anything. I'm using 3ds Max 2012.
Apologies if this is covered somewhere that I haven't dug up in my google / forum searches. Is there an easy way to update a .sbsar base material so that changes made in Substance Designer propagate to fill layers in Painter? Right now I've been using 'export .sbsar as previous' in designer then re-importing in painter and…
Hey, I've made some materials in designer and when I publish them to painter they look awful. I Published them with relative to parent at zero and ticked seed and output size on in parameters. I don't get an output size parameter in painter only seed. Also the material icon looks weird here are some screen shots
Hey Daedalus51, I apologize for how long it took me to check this. I'll try to take some pictures of what I'm referencing tomorrow and play around with materials when I get a chance. Sinking, you sound kind of offended. Wasn't my intent; I'm honestly quite familiar with carbon fiber as a material. But now that we're having…
Type your messageI notice this is a common question and have tried the solutions in a couple different threads. All I'm trying to do is apply a solid color to an element of my mesh. Using scanline I put a standard material in the slate view, applied it to the selection, changed the color, and made sure show material in…
