So I've been doing almost entirely hard surface assets and substances at work for the last 6 months, and decided to do a quick study on something more organic. I've had a chunk of raw obsidian sitting on my desk at work, and decided today to take a couple hours and do a material study on it.
Started as a sphere in ZBrush, smashed out a quick sculpt in an hour, decimated the low, quickly UV'd it in maya, and took the next hour to recreate the material in SD. Turned out decent, though for an actual asset I'd like to spend more time on the substance so I can share it amongst assets with minimal editing.
Felt like posting something because I haven't thrown anything up in awhile.
