I have a problem with the cat rig CatMotion walk cycle. The knees keep popping between straight and bent during the walk cycle. I've been trying for hours to fix it with little success. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtcK5gQ63dI Is there an in depth tutorial that covers mastering Cat Rig CatMotion walk cycles?
I just published a script for the first time on Gumroad! It's not really flashy, but I think it can be quite useful. It's free (pay what you want), so if it looks interesting to you give it a shot! I'd love to hear any feedback you guys may have :) https://gumroad.com/l/uFUJK ----- The script is basically a set of tools…
I've been working on building an IK setup for a game mesh so I can more easily animate it, but I'm having near constant problems with actually keeping the leg aligned forward in bends. In order to keep the joints moving as intended, I have the skeleton like this. However, an issue occurs with the IK in that it wants to…
Say I've got a modeled and textured asset with all the UVs fitting in the top half of 0 to 1 space. Does anyone know a simple way to tell it to use only a section of uv space? If I feed it a 512x1024 image now I believe it will take that and stretch it out to 0 to 1 space, when I really want it to sit in 0.5 to 1 space (on…
Hi guys I am getting some strong distortion when I am chamfering an edge in 3ds Max 2014. I am following along a tutorial where the user is relying on quad chamfer modifier which isnt available for my version of 3ds max. See around the 46:20 minute mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y83FLL6TqF0&list=WL&index=55 Instead I…
Ok, so there has been some disagreement between myself and a friend of mine *cough* oniram *cough* as to a technique I used to create a normal map. The technique I used is to add floating pieces. I had seen this be extremely effective on other normal maps so I figured, "why wouldn't it work with bigger objects?" because in…
Ok, I've noticed this problem before, but I've never had so much trouble with this issue as I've had with this latest animation I was trying. It's easier if I show a picture than explain it myself: Note the torso being completely offset so that it's moved forward and overlapping the pelvis. This is my issue... when I…
Hey all! I'm having a bit of an issue dealing with Maya fbxes imported into Max. Meshes from Maya come in with explicit normals instead of smoothing groups, but the only way I know to change that essentially removes all smoothing info and I have to start over with smoothing groups. I would like to avoid this and find a way…
Hi I'm currently working on a low poly game and a lot of the models are hard surface, even the organics are very blocky. Unwrapping the models is becoming a bit of a chore and I'm just looking to improve my efficiency. I don't use pelt mapping because my models are very blocky so I've been finding it a lot easier to just…
I was wondering if anybody knew of a way, inside 3DS Max, to duplicate the changes I make from one side of the model, on a mesh which isn't totally symmetrical? I have some low poly characters which I would like to tweak slightly, and it would be great to have the changes I make on one side propogate to the other. Because…
