I've always used the "default Scanline" renderer in max for everything including baking AO and normalmaps. However, I've been doing a little research and I've seen conflicting opinions that MR is faster for basic rendering tasks like these (especially with multi-core CPUs). I just wanted to ask if there is much truth in…
I am trying to bake a mental ray bump shader to a normal map using maya transfer maps however I can't seem to get it to recognize the mr shader. Has anyone ever tried this? Is there a way to render a normal map using the custom shader option?
Hey guys long time lurker this is my first thread and contest on polycount im gonna have a go at Dr mundo I thought id do a Dr jekyll and mr Hyde spin not to sure how well its going to read from game view i might abandon this idea and go in a different direction i would love to hear any thoughts or crits this is as far as…
About the opportunity: An exciting new project built on the Unity platform integrating VR/MR in the transportation business. We are looking for a developer/team of developers who can assist in producing UI functionality onto our already built Unity platform. The functions required can be discussed directly.…
Hi, I was wondering if someone knows if there is such thing as an MR arch & design AO global toggler for all the "AD" materials on the scene. This will be very usefull instead of manually setting every shader or desactivating each shader AO. I want to make some tests on whether it is more fast/precise to use this ao…
Heya Polycounters I've embarked on a quest to finish a dreadnought for my 3D course. It is supposed to be a show of my skills I've learned this semester. It will be normal mapped and have a diffuse, specular and gloss map. I will particularily pay attention to the texture, as that has been the major letdown of my latest…
Hey Folks! For the past little while I've been working on a project of creating Arnold Schwarzenegger during his bodybuilding career. I wanted to recreate him at his biggest which was during Mr. Olympia 1974. I've posted below some progress shots, however I'm looking for some feedback on the proportions. To me something…
Alright so new project in the works. Something I've been planning for quite a while, attempting to model this mech here by Mr-Jack. I love the shapes but things are pretty loose, and the legs are kinda flimsy so I'll be working on the concept and kitbashing a bit to get something that works a bit better. The end game for…
3ds Max+MR: I've got an object cleanly reflecting in the floor plane (Arch+Design materials). When I uncheck ' visible to camera' the object doesn't render, as expected, but its reflection in the floor is a lot less saturated than before. Is this correct and if so, how do I work around it? Thanks
Created this scene when the Mr. Robot Season 2 finale came out. Fully textured in the Quixel Suite, some Megascans use in the aquarium. No baked textures except the walls (before I had decided to do NDO for the rest of the scene), but heavy use of face-weighted normals instead. Learned a lot about getting nice moody…
