3ds Max+MR: Should reflection be duller when the object is not 'visible to camera'

3ds Max+MR: I've got an object cleanly reflecting in the floor plane (Arch+Design materials). When I uncheck ' visible to camera' the object doesn't render, as expected, but its reflection in the floor is a lot less saturated than before.

Is this correct and if so, how do I work around it? Thanks
