Hey everyone, I was just wondering. Is there a quick way to model this shape? It's the only one I find that consistently crops up in my work that always stumps me with how long it takes to do compared to other shapes. I often find myself modeling something from a completely flat plane that I shelled, and have to reduce the…
First of all, hi everyone So... I've been trying to make a model for UT, and i got a few problems. Im using 3dsmax 5.1, and i have been more or less following Potempkin's tutorial (by more or less i mean the character is not made out of boxes But it seems like i screwed something up, because when i tried to see my model…
Hey all... so I'm new to this forum, I've been doing 3d and 2d stuff for awhile, and I'm working on this portfolio project which is going to be like 8 characters in a mural (good vs evil facing off), which I hope to paint and then create completely in 3d so my showreel can transition from the painting to the render. It's…
I'm modelling a katana and I've gotten to the tsuba. There are some really beautiful designs out there but I'm having trouble making one efficiently. (I'm not going for this design, this is just a simple example) I begin with a spline, drawing over an existing template. Then I attach the splines and use shell to make it…
Hi everyone, I'm trying to model tiling repeatable rope material for a character that belong to The Order universe. Needless to say, its proven much more complicated that I first though about it. I've modeled that first material following some examples picture of Nathan Phail-Liff who did the cording in the game. I have no…
You say you want to be a 3D character modeler, yet your character models are but a foot note to all of your other work. Ditch all of the other work (pixel, animations, etc, except MAYBE a few if you really don't have anything else), and get a lot more character models out that are of your best quality.
I wish I started modeling at such a young age... good on you, dude. Not a bad first model. Sean's right, it seems pretty glossy for metal, and for the presentation -- you should try to stick your logo somewhere not blocked by your work :) Keep modeling and sharing your work. ...Do they have 3d courses in high schools yet?…
Sorry. we have been getting so wrapped up in the game that it slipped our minds. Our game is going to be an FPS with sneaking elements to it. It's going to take place in the present day or near future and is based off of events around the war on Terrorism, but has no real connection to anything that is going on. This takes…

We are currently using Unreal and finishing up a prototype. Our goal is to get a demo to show off to get the team…
Hi, I have a full model all ready in an obj file and need her rigged up so that she can animate when set up in a software program called Facerig. I am not sure if I want her arms to move or not it might just be slight movement in the chest and facial expression. The artist would have to have knowledge about Facerig or be…
